TITANS' Twitter Account Just Issued A Bizarre Response To DEADPOOL 2's Joke About The DCEU

We're just days away from being able to watch Titans and DC Universe has now shared a pretty bizarre Tweet taking aim at Deadpool 2 after the sequel's many jokes at the expense of the DCEU. Take a look!

It's been clear from day one that Titans will deliver a much darker and grittier take on these characters than what we're used to seeing, something which came as a surprise considering the fact Warner Bros. has tried to move away from that after the response to 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

In Deadpool 2, Ryan Reynolds' Merc with the Mouth took a swipe at the DC Extended Universe when he asked Cable, "So dark...you sure you're not from the DC Universe?" Now, the Titans Twitter account has issued a very simple response to that: "Suck it." Yes, this really is how the DC Universe streaming service is choosing to promote the series which launches this coming Friday. It's certainly...unique!

It appears as if Warner Bros. is perfectly fine with poking fun at its dark past because the Teen Titans Go!
movie certainly didn't shy away from that and it appears as if the Harley Quinn animated series won't either. It seems a tad disrespectful to Zack Snyder's work, of course, but moviegoers did reject that darker take on these comic books so most will probably appreciate the jokes. What do you think?

Honestly, I think Reynolds dragged out the Green Lantern jokes too long. And the DC universe joke in Deadpool 2 was random as hell, it literally felt like fan-service to haters/like the script was just jumping on the bandwagon of online hate.

@Kurne - I could be wrong, but I don't remember Deadpool making fun of or referencing Marvel/MCU directly so far, or anything Sony-related. Maybe the Green Lantern/DC stuff feels a little off because they're the easy targets, but "real Deadpool" really should be an equal opportunity offender.

These were ultimately pretty safe jokes (a lot of Deadpool 2 just felt very safe, honestly), whereas really going after Disney or Sony might be poking a bear. Even so, I really do wish people would keep mistaking Deadpool for Ninja Spider-Man.

@Spock0Clock - yeah pretty much. DC were easy targets, so the jokes were safe all around - kicking them when they were down. It was dumb and random in context of the scene, really took me out. Felt like a regular comment here on CBM.

Poking Sony might've been fine for them, but poking The Mouse? I know people make a joke out of Reynolds sucking up to his new masters... but yeah. I don't think he would wanna do that.

@Spock0Clock - Well, he WAS Hal Jordan, so the joke there is personal. They should have gone for Blade too. I am a big fan of Hannibal King and that... handsome bearded thing there was not King.
Blade Trinity was as souless and unfunny as a film can be.

@Spock0Clock - IIRC doesn't he make a Hawkeye joke in the prison? And then later on compare Domino to Black Widow?
Polaris

@TheOncomingStorm - yep, and there was an Age of Ultron joke too, with Deadpool saying "the sun's getting real low" to Juggernaut

@TheOncomingStorm - You may well be right. I have a terrible memory and I may have mentally checked out of some sections of Deadpool 2.

Fair enough crack, decent job, the Deadpool humour can be odd, when he said "you're so dark, are you sure you're not from the DC universe " all I was with said, wow, he complementd DC, they were like let's use the remark it's free advertising.

Come on, its perfectly fine and not bizzare at all. But i guess its a cool thing to be abnormally critical about all things dc.

@rebellion - I don't know that I'd call it "abnormally critical," it's just....I mean....how hard is it to make a good movie? Especially when your source material is all laid out for you?

I'm not some toxic fan, I'm not fanboying over Marvel, I just want to see good movies. I don't care which company they come from. In the long run, the more bad superhero movies that get made, the faster this whole thing collapses into itself like the Westerns did. I feel very privileged to be around to enjoy these movies and I'd like them to keep coming.

I just don't think DC is doing a very good job right now, but that doesn't mean I'm hating on DC, it means they need to do a better job at appealing to a wider audience.

@4N6 - im not denying dc has had a lot of problems with adapting their stuff.
Im just annoyed by the completely pointless overanalyzing of things like a promotional tweet for their streaming service. Like, is that really needed? No, but its cool, brings clicks, and capitalizes on the mob mentality. Sad.

@4N6 - So agree with you! I've loved the DC characters as much as the Marvel Characters for the last 40 years! But damn, DC has sure made some crap movies! How you mess up the freaking Justice League is beyond me???

True art can't be rushed.

I mean you can but then you get soulless corporate products like these guys are saying.

Christopher Nolan understood this, that's why we wasn't even sure about coming back to do the third batman movie unless he cracked to code on how to satisfyingly end his trilogy... we wasn't just going to mail it in. That's why directors and actors like him have stayed away from this hole cinematic universe business because it's not art. It's the same reason Joaquin Phoenix agreed to do just one film, and it's the same reason we haven't seen a sequel to inception.
