@Kevwebsz - Love his content. Don't always agree with his points but they are always well thought out and argued.

I enjoyed last season, but I do think it was the weakest season by far.

-It navigated too far away from the political thriller plot lines it is most well know for in favor of more generic high fantasy mumbo jumbo

-The 7 episode format screwed up the pacing and didn't allow any of the scenes to breathe naturally or characters to interact or develop relationships naturally

-Many subplots were ended or abandoned halfheartedly (most criminally Littlefinger's).

I enjoyed it...but it was a massive step down from the rest of the series.

@MrDandy - That it moved far away from the political thriller plotline isnt a good complaint.

This is what the show has been building up to since the beginning since it showed the first glimpse of the white walkers and now it finally delivers it.

What did you think it was going to be about? There isn't much room for politics when you're fighting an army of the dead.

@Django79 - They even made the point early on in the season: if they don't put aside political differences they're all going to die.

@Django79 - Song of Ice and Fire IS a political thriller in a fantasy world. Ignore that and you throw away the shows inherent DNA and turn it into every other fantasy story.

@MrDandy - Yes, but both the show and the books were building up to a high fantasy battle from the beginning. How can you not when you tease white walkers coming to end us all type of storyline?

GoT is political thriller but it also has its high fantasy component and its showing that now.

@Django79 - Doesn't change the fact that fighting ice zombies wasn't what made the show interesting or unique. It was the unpredictable political intrigue than made it gripping to watch. And there ARE ways to build those fantasy battles into the story organically (as they showed in previous seasons) without sacrificing what made the show special.

I'm not going to give the writers a free ride for making the show less fun to watch, just because they want to build to some predictable endgame big battle.
