The Internet Movie Database got the jump on Costa Ronin joining ABC's Agent Carter miniseries earlier this week, but Marvel has now confirmed the casting. The Australian actor will indeed be playing a younger Anton Vanko, whose partnership and fallout with Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) was first explored in Iron Man 2. Anyhow, expect Agent Carter to premiere on January 6, 2015.

"Fans have wanted to learn more about Anton Vanko since he was first mentioned in 2010's Iron Man 2 and we're happy to deliver with Costa's terrific performance in Agent Carter," said Jeph Loeb, Marvel's Head of Television.

"Marvel's Agent Carter," starring Captain America's Hayley Atwell, follows the story of Peggy Carter. It's 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life--Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," along with the short "Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter." Starring Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, Chad Michael Murray as SSR Agent Jack Thompson, Enver Gjokaj as SSR Agent Daniel Sousa, James D'Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, and Shea Whigham as SSR Chief Roger Dooley, "Agent Carter" was written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Executive producers are Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas, Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, Chris Dingess, Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Alan Fine, Joe Quesada, Stan Lee & Jeph Loeb.

The movie wasn't very good, but somehow I always end up watching it whenever I see that it's on TV.

This storyline was poorly executed in 2.

We could have had the best Iron Man franchise in the universe if they had set up The Mandarin at the end of the first movie on the back of the Ten Rings organisation we were introduced to at the start.

It would have been the perfect ending and the perfect start for a great story arc that spans across the two sequels.

I will repeat again in the animated series Armored Adventures Tony must prevent Mandarin from acquiring all five rings and then later all ten, meanwhile there are minor villains such as Ghost an Madam Masque done in quite a good way.

+ Reveal that Mandarin is behind assassination of Stark's parents.

Oh yeah, and Drew Pearce managed to ruin one of the few redeeming qualities of Iron Man 2 (Justin Hammer) in his stupid one shot by turning Hammer into a full blown douchebag like Downey.

They should have a sequel Iron Douches and have the entire family of retards return: Paltrow screaming as usual, Downey as obnoxiousness himself and Trevor, screaming ole ole ole while pieces of armor fly into Downey's crotch

The irrational fanboy hatred of Iron Man 3 still confuses me.

So it's possible we might see a early version of the whiplash armor in action

@SauronsBANE

They simply didn't get it. It boggles my mind too.

Looking forward to this show. Good characters, good actors, and Hayley Atwell's perfect figure? Can't go wrong. I would say hurry up and get here January...but I don't want to go 2 months without AoS.

@TheAmbassador Yeah I don't love or hate Iron Man 2...though I do see it's flaws and somehow I find it really watchable.

I actually LOVE Iron Man 3, even if it too me a little while to get to that point. I learned to get over the Mandarin plot twist. And while the PTSD came across as a little forced, I can totally see how that was necessary for Tony's character arc. And the ending montage of Tony curing Pepper's Extremis virus (completely off-screen) and getting surgery for his shrapnel was definitely glossed over MUCH too quickly, but again it made perfect sense for Tony's character.

That's how I managed to come around to it: I realized that Iron Man 3 is a Tony Stark movie. And a lot of fanboys simply didn't want that - they wanted a mystical Mandarin supervillain, they wanted more scenes of the Iron Man armor, and they wanted less of Tony Stark. That seems backward to me.

I no longer bash IM3 due to a conversation that I had with @MercwithMouth. Its one of those what could have beens for me. I dont hate it but I'm not in love with it either.

What's the Costa Ronin these days? :P (obligatory bad joke)

Seriously, though. I wish I had a cool last name like that.

No Marvel film is worth repeat viewing after the initial theatrical release for some reason at least in my case. Not hating just stating. It's like toilet paper, once you wipe once that wod is no longer any good.

@Chaud: We have. Ever since those scenes of him on his deathbed from IM2, Ive been craving some more Anton. First I hoped he'd show up in the Avengers, then IM3. This is the best newsday ever!

Lies!

Kidding. It's cool they are bringing it all together but non one was actually asking for this to happen.

Just saying.
