Nick Fury Wants To Be In AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Nick Fury actor Samuel L. Jackson confesses that he wants to be on Marvel's upcoming television show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. set to air this Fall on ABC. Would you like to see Fury appear on the show and if so, in what capacity?

Well, it seems Samuel L. Jackson IS in nearly everything. Why not add Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to the impressive list that makes Jackson the highest grossing actor of all-time? Speaking to Vulture, Jackson stated, ""Oh! If I was going to do S.H.I.E.L.D., I'd like to be — you know Charlie's voice on Charlie's Angels? That would be perfect. Because everybody recognizes my voice. That would be good enough for me. And I told Joss that." So maybe we won't actually see Fury but we'll hear his voice at some point. Can't imagine it would cost a whole lot to just get Sam in a recording booth for some voice work. But Samuel did acknowledge that contractual logistics would need to be worked out first, "I don't know. [Joss] can't hire me, I guess. Disney, Marvel, we'll see what they think ... It would legitimize the show in another way. It's like the same thing with Star Wars — I want to be in that too. Bring Mace Windu back!" Well, Mace Windu is dead Sam...but so was Coulson.

J. August Richards On His Character In AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

"Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films, as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson's team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage; Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), expert pilot and martial artist; Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), brilliant engineer; and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker, Skye (Chloe Bennet).

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s first television series, is from executive producers Joss Whedon (Marvel's The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, who co-wrote the pilot (Dollhouse, Dr.Horrible's Sing-Along Blog). Jeffrey Bell (Angel, Alias) and Jeph Loeb (Smallville, Lost, Heroes) also serve as executive producers. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television."

@Batmaniac, no way do I want the reveal of SW & QS ruined on the small screen. They need to be introduced in all of their spledor.

As far as NF is concerned, does anyone else think SLJ must run huge debts or has a gambling problem? This guy will try to show up in everything. He's doing commercials for the Atlanta Falcons here in GA. If he were given the job of Perry White in MoS, he would have taken that to. At one point I heard he had been in more movies a year than any other actor for several years.

Nick Fury will definitely be on the show, but most likely in the midseason and season finales and I wouldn't expect a ton of screen time from him. Samuel L. Jackson would have to lower whatever financial expectation he has from Marvel to do more than that.

I love that he's just embracing the role. I say hell yeah let him appear on the show.

Well....that answers that question "of who is dying in the new capt.2 scene in the hospital?"....Not Nick Fury!

I agree with Batmaniac. I think each season, they should track down one "hero" and when they get him/her to join, that is the end of the season. Like for instance, Thor, Tony, Capt, Hulk, etc. But ones we haven't seen yet, of course.

Cameo only. Maybe only in one episode, to end the series. I don't want the character to become stale. I want him to have that same prescence he had when he popped up in IM for the first time

im all for him showing up in a few episodes even as a slight voiceover, that would just be cementing agents of shield as a legitimate marvel universe continuity

The hardest working man in hollywood. I don't think there is a role this man turns down.

@paris
I don't think its debt or drugs or anything like that. He is from the old school of thought, work as hard as you can for as long as you can. Some stars get big heads and think they are above certain roles or they think I don't have to work because I already got money. This guy could care less, just show him the money. It doesn't even have to be big money either. He'll go from major blockbuster, to straight to dvd movies, and voice over work in the same year.

I saw a couple of tv spots for this last night watching the NBA finals. Seems like it'll be good, but I don't think it'll make it. Very few new tv series actual do.

Sam kind of reduced his negotiating power by saying this, don't ya think? I'm glad he'd be up for it, though. A S.H.I.E.L.D. show without Nick Fury in it in some capacity would just be weird.

i agree with Sam, it would definitely legitimize it. also, why waste a great actor when you have one at your disposal ready to work? from what i've seen of the SHIELD trailers, their in dire need of good actors.

If he wants to do it, then let him. Not that it's not do-able but it is strange to have a show about SHIELD and their director is no where to be found. Voice over work doesn't demand a lot of time or a huge paycheck, a TV budget should be able to handle it.

@fortycals: Agreed. Goes to show the type of Hollywood attitude we've become accustomed to when an actor who actually treats his profession like a regular 9 to 5 is suspected of being in some kind of financial trouble. He's earned his title of the highest paid actor over all the twats and primadonnas who won't get out of bed for less than a million.

Am I the only one who thinks that while he is a talented actor and brings a certain attitude and tone to all his roles, I'm finding myself getting a little tired of SLJ showing up in what seems like every other movie?

yes please, as he said he can be the "Charlie" of the show, Coulson is the Bosley, and the rest are the angels lol

And then have him appear in person in the finale, when things are going to hell and the usual end of season event is happening, Nick gets involved

it would be perfect, but dont have him in the rest of the season in person at least, this is Coulson's show

and when HIMYM is done, get Cobie in there too!

Samuel Jackson works as hard as he does because he knows what it's like to not get work. The 80's was a very sparse time for him as an actor, and by the 90's he'd all but given up on getting anything more than a bit role until Tarrintino came along.

Here's the thing: I'm for him appearing on the show, but having him as a regular cast member would make his appearances in the movies seem a little redundant and tiresome. A cameo now and then is not such a bad thing, but they have to consider the fact that it could be overkill.

This is just Sam, once again proving that he's the coolest man on the planet.

That being said, if he wants to be in the show, in any capacity, I can't imagine Marvel or Disney saying "no".

In fact, I think saying "no" to Samuel L. Jackson is actually illegal in 48 states.
marantaz

Being the director, how can he not be in it. Not every episode maybe, but in the ones where his approval of an operation might be necessary, etc. And he should play it down the middle, sometimes making the executive decision that rubs the audience the wrong way but is in the end the right thing to do to protect the nation. As opposed to the wrong thing to do, which we've had enough of in the past 50 years or so...

If he wants to be in it, he should make it easy on them and not demand the kind of money that an actor of his status is actually worth.
