Kevin Feige Addresses Rumors AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. And Other Marvel Television Properties Will Join The MCU

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige opens up on the rumours that he has plans for characters from the worlds of both Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Defenders, comparing Marvel Television to Fox and Sony.

Marvel Television is no more, and Kevin Feige is now in charge of...well, everything. However, that's left us with a lot of uncertainty when it comes to the future of characters in shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Defenders.

During Disney+'s virtual TCA Press Tour panel today, the Marvel Studios President was asked if those Netflix properties are back in his more than capable hands.

"I think we probably could do it, I think a lot of that stuff comes back to us," he responded when asked about making use of those heroes and villains. "There’s always rumors online about things reverting, sometimes that’s true, sometimes it’s not, but I’m not exactly sure of the exact contracts but perhaps someday."

"My history at Marvel is vast and involved zero control for a long time so I paid more attention to the things I gained control over rather than the things I didn’t have control over. TV at that time was just one of those things that we didn’t, just like when Fox was doing X-Men movies or Sony was doing Spider-Man movies without us," Feige adds. "That was just the rules under which Marvel was operating at the time. It was much more of an opportunity and something that excited us at Marvel Studios when Bob Iger started asking us to work on shows for Disney+. It wasn’t a disappointment or something we thought much about when Marvel Television was doing their series."

Feige was then asked specifically about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and he reiterated his previous comments (while highlighting one cast member, in particular). "There are often rumors that are true and there are often rumors that are not. It was great fun to have Clark Gregg come back to the MCU in Captain Marvel. Everything else, we’ll just have to see."

Interestingly, when it was suggested that these Marvel Television shows weren't overly successful, Feige went on the defence. Despite the fact that different teams made them, he noted: "I think there are legions of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans and Daredevil fans and Jessica Jones fans and Luke Cage fans. There’s a very big fanbase for those shows."

So, nothing is off the table, but Feige continues to choose his words carefully. It remains likely that Daredevil will be the first character to make his MCU debut - in Spider-Man: No Way Home - but beyond that, it appears these small screen heroes and villains will slowly find their way into this shared world.

Just the Netflix characters and Clark Gregg

@Mrtoke - Considering Coulson was an LMD, they could just use him to introducer LMDs to the main MCU without having to go into Agents Of Shield bagage.

Id say Daredevil is the only one worth keeping as a whole. It was great from beginning to end.

Jessica Jones was just as good for the first season but went to crap in season 2 and 3

Luke Cage had a decent first season, dropped the ball in the second half, season 2 was more consistent but wouldn't say it was as good as Season 1's first half

Iron Fist was crap, season 2 was better but the character's best stuff was in Luke Cage Season 2

Punisher was consistantly decent. never as good as his daredevil appearences

Defenders, Crisis On Earth X was better

@dracula - daredevil was good but jessica jones was the most critically acclaimed of the Netflix marvel shows and luke cage was probably the best all around series.

@Hulkh8liars - disagree about Luke. DD was the best character and series to me

@dracula - I really liked Punisher and would put it high up the Netflix Marvel shows, but I'd admit it doesn't really bother much with trying to be a "Punisher" show and plays around it a lot. Both Daredevil and Punisher ended on a very "clean slate" note so they could easily be put back in as is with their predicted status quos. Don't think that works as much with how Luke Cage S2 ended, and even though I enjoyed Iron Fist S2, a full reboot for that would be the best option I'd think.

I adore Alias, and S1 was the only season that really hit it well, so I don't mind just seeing her as a side character that pops up whenever, not touching the character anymore, or doing some other stories from Alias like the mutant runaway or the drugged up Spider-Women (who I think was related to JJJ or something). Though with the X-Men back, a redo of the purple man arc with Jean Grey joining in would be fun, though I doubt another live action version would beat the highs of S1 of the netflix show.

Dunno what to do with Luke Cage, nothing wrong with the character and season 2 was great, but cliff hanger might be an issue unless they choose to soft reboot him, which I think might be the way since the show did have some Iron Fist baggage which is most likely gonna be completely redone if touched.

I didn't see a NO in there.

@inkniron -
Of course you didn't. The rumors about the multiverse containing the Fox and Sony stuff have been thick and fueled by Electro and Doc Oc. I see some kind of big multiverse reveal at the end of Wandavision and Spider Man: No Way Home kind of implies that he gets stuck in the multiverse or some such. Feige isn't going to spill the beans before any of those big reveals. If Charlie Cox is in any of this stuff it's an auto rec for the rest of it.

@Goldboink - I don't think any of the fox marvel stuff will be part of the mcu multiverse.

@Hulkh8liars -
True that. They are trying to set up more of a shared thing with Spider-Man so that will likely be included. We won’t see X-men for a long time

@Hulkh8liars - The multiverse is infinte that's the beauty of it no need to fight about what is canon or not.

@YonnyLayna - none of the fox characters will come over to the mcu. They will not be part of the mcu multiverse

@Hulkh8liars - I don't say they would but well
Wandavision-Spiderman 3- Doctor Strange MOM are said to be a thematic trilogy.

Wandavision and Spiderman are using actors from Fox and Sony, why they would go for the logistical knightmare of securing the same people?

@YonnyLayna - they have the same actor for a rebooted jj so until they say otherwise I'll assume it's the same.otherwisenit would just confused and alienate the general audience... And would probably be a shit show
