THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER's Episode 5 Cameo Is A New Character Played By A "Well-Known" Actor

There's been a huge amount of speculation online ever since The Falcon and The Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman teased a big cameo for episode 5, and we now have more details on what to expect.

Last month, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman sent the internet into a frenzy when he revealed that episode five would feature a surprise cameo from "a very, very grounded character" with a "strong" personality, who he would like to see "partnered with one of the big world-shakers like Thor."

That doesn't sound like Mephisto, but after those big WandaVision teases didn't pay off, fans are approaching next week's instalment of the Disney+ series with some serious trepidation.

Now, /Film has shared some exclusive details on what to expect.

The site reveals that "this surprise character is not one that we’ve seen in the MCU before and not one who is primed to appear in an upcoming film. However, we have learned it is an existing Marvel Comics character who is played by a well-known performer."

So, it's a character from the comic books, played by a familiar face. Honestly, that doesn't really narrow things down!

We could be talking about a Power Broker reveal here, or something as simple as a big name star playing a relatively obscure character from the source material who could suit up down the line. Plus, just because they're not set to appear in an upcoming movie, that doesn't mean they won't be in an upcoming TV show!

Our best guess is Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters, but we'd love to hear your theories in the usual place!

I got you covered guys my sources told me who it is. It is Michael Cera as the power broker.

@Nemesis17then - Michael Cera is 100% the guy that should play Acrade in the X-Men reboot.

@tripttwe - Either I'm missing something or you and I have a very different idea of how Arcade acts. He's like 100x more outgoing than Michael Cera is.

@tripttwe - He could everybody should fear Cera. Cute on the outside but evil on the inside.

@FearTheLiving - I think Cera could pull it off. The monotone chill vibe could be destroyed by unleashing his "true nature" in Murderworld.

Whoever it is I can't wait. I enjoyed ep4 very, very much.

I was a little worried about continuing the Cap mythos without Markus and Mcfeely, but if episode 4 is anything to go by then I had no reason to worry at all. Let's hope they finish strong.

MCU is all about the slow burn. We have references that haven't played out in over ten years. We figured out what happened to Red Skull in End Game for crying out loud. These shows have us acting like if it isn't wrapped up and introduced in this season we were played. F4 could really be tied to Wandavision. There was a red and blue circled X in episode 3 of this. Which is for sure a tease to X-Men but there won't be any mutants in this show. Marvel is long game and big picture entertainment. This person won't be of importance for years to come, because that's how they do. Sorry got a little off topic lol

So, who did they cast as Rick Jones then?

He's been a sorely misses character and can be a great bridge to Jennifer Walters
Mrcool210
Mrcool210 - 4/10/2021, 4:57 AM
@inkniron - The fact that Rick jones hasn't been in any hulk movie at all is a travesty. I don't mind it as much in TIH cause it takes place after his origin. Even though it would have been nice to have him appear or be referenced.

But why the [frick] is it some guy called Harper in Hulk (2003) why couldn't he just be Rick?
Spike101
Spike101 - 4/10/2021, 6:17 AM
@Mrcool210 - I’d love to see the Hulk story revisited and pick back up on all threads they laid like the Leader and Betty, and introduce Rick Jones as you say.

I honestly don't think they're talking about the Power Broker. In no way can I see him partnered with a world shaking hero.

I'm holding strong that this is the PB and we get a look at him this coming episode though.

bkmeijer2 - 4/10/2021, 2:47 AM
@inkniron - isn't that the guy the placed the shield in a museum and the next day gave it to Walker?

I doubt we'll actually get to see the Power Broker until he shows up in Armor Wars. But I could be wrong.
Scarilian
Scarilian - 4/10/2021, 11:42 AM
@bkmeijer -
Power Broker is probably Thunderbolt Ross.

Armor Wars could be warped to be about how the US government has exploited the Iron Man tech after Tony's death.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 4/10/2021, 2:32 PM
@Scarilian - yeah there's definitely some changing to the source material either way.

Whatever Ross' plans are (doesn't have to be the Power Broker), I hope it leads to the Thunderbolts.
Scarilian
Scarilian - 4/12/2021, 3:39 PM
@bkmeijer -
I'd expect Ross' involvement to result in Thunderbolts, would work nicely to tie-in with She-Hulk that apparently features the return of Abomination - could eventually result in the Disney+ heroes uniting to fight the Thunderbolts who are effectively the Masters Of Evil.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 4/12/2021, 3:55 PM
@Scarilian - got the idea the small screen projects are laying the groundwork for more team-up projects:

- Thunderbolts could be White Vision, US Agent, Agent 13, Zemo, Abomination, Hammer (my guess he returns in Armor Wars, and a few Ant-Man villains like Ghost and Yellowjacket.
- Young Avengers with Speed, Wiccan, Patriot, America Chavez, Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel
- Midnight Sons with atleast Moon Knight and Blade

I'm just not gonna speculate about it. I'm gonna let it surprise me, so I know my own expectations will not lead to dissappointments
