Loki is widely considered one of Marvel Studios' best Disney+ TV shows, and is currently the only one (aside from the animated What If...?) to be confirmed for a second batch of episodes.
We know Loki director Kate Herron won't be back to take the helm, though it has been revealed that Moon Knight's Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead will take charge of the vast majority of episodes. Eric Martin, meanwhile, is expected to serve as Head Writer in place of season one's Michael Waldron (who is likely too busy working on Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige's Star Wars movie).
Talking to The Playlist, the God of Mischief himself, Tom Hiddleston, was asked when he'll be working on Loki season 2. "We’re in it already. I mean, we’re not filming, but we’re in prep, but we start in like six weeks or something," he revealed. "So we’re in full steam ahead in terms of a script and story and it’s really exciting. Yeah, I can’t say too much, but lots of questions to be answered."
Hiddleston was also asked for his thoughts on season 1's big cliffhanger ending, admitting that there's lots of material for the upcoming second batch of episodes to delve into.
"When I finally got there, I thought, 'Okay, there are some unanswered questions here. Yeah. And what happens now?'" the actor pondered. "It made me not want to stop and just keep going, but I’m sure it was good for everybody’s energy levels that we did stop."
Loki ended up being shot in the midst of the pandemic, and it doesn't sound like it was an easy ride for anyone. The end result speaks for itself, of course, and with the villain turned anti-hero trapped in an alternate timeline where the TVA is ruled by Kang the Conqueror, we're intrigued to see where the story goes next (and what will become of Sylvie after she finally took revenge on He Who Remains).
Loki season 2 is expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2023.
