MOON KNIGHT Producer Says The Disney+ Series Has "No Attachment To The Current MCU"

There's a lot of excitement for Moon Knight ahead of its launch on Disney+ later this month, and fans are already speculating about how the mythology surrounding the hero will impact the wider MCU.

Both the Moon Knight persona and Egyptian God Khonshu can be tied into this shared world's history, but executive producer Grant Curtis has suggested that the show will be primarily standalone in nature. "There’s no attachment to the current MCU," he teased. "He’s brand-new, and he is going on a brand-new adventure. We really think the fans are going to enjoy it."

This obviously doesn't mean that Moon Knight isn't set in the MCU; instead, Steven Grant/Marc Spector probably won't be tied to any other characters. We're sure by the time all is said and done, though, the hero is going to become a key player whose story intersects with The Avengers.

"There are multiple aspects of Moon Knight that get us internally jazzed at Marvel Studios," Curtis added. "But one of the unique aspects of this character is it’s taking Marvel Studios to its Iron Man and Tony Stark roots. That was a character that was obviously built from the ground up, and it is the same with Marc Spector."

"We’re absolutely embracing the supernatural aspects of what was in publishing, the Egyptian gods, this ruthless Egyptian god Khonshu that manipulates Marc to do his bidding," he continued. "We’re embracing all that. We love stuff that goes bump in the night."

Exploring the supernatural side of the MCU appears to be a priority heading into Phase 4, and if Moon Knight opens the door to werewolves, vampires, and more, we're now even more excited!

Moon Knight is set to premiere on Disney+ on March 30.

Guess the rumor he gets snapped are wrong then.

@Origame - Lol the snap in the MCU is like the Order 66 in Star Wars. Every Disney+ show has to come back to it.

@Origame - I never heard that rumor. I think we should be done with the snap in my opinion. I’m ok with Moon Knight starting off in today’s current world on a brand new adventure that’s not tied into anything previously shown.

@WruceBayne - do you remember that scene where he's falling off the cliff? According to the rumor he gets snapped right before dying there, then when he's blipped back it effectively saves him. I agree, it's pretty dumb and we should move on.

@Origame - That scene, to me anyway, looks like he's just awakened from one of his other personas mid-fall.

@Whaley87 - I think that's more likely what's happening.

Good, let it stand on its own. I’m sick of hearing Iron Man’s name dropped all the time

Not obvious enough apparently.

Definitely my most anticipated Marvel project right now, even more so than Doctor Strange. Maybe 'The Batman' has put me on a vigilante kick, but a darker and more serious MCU series is much needed after the endless goofiness of 'Hawkeye'

He's already a varient of himself. haha. Let it stand alone. that's cool.

I think that's how they should do Xmen, and as a series. so much there to tell.

Ouch to rumored cameos

Good. Let Moon Knight keep to his own mysterious corner of the MCU. Maybe Blade or Ghost Rider in time, but does he really need to be intersecting on adventures with characters like Spider-Man, Ant-Man and Hulk?

Pretty sure this just means no cameos from anyone. At least not until the very very end

@ShimmyShimmyYA - who’d cameo in this though? I can’t see how Moon Knight is tied to the broader MCU. Who do you think the cameo is?

@WruceBayne - Blade is really the only person I can think of. I wouldn’t be surprised if No one shows up

That's good to hear. It is nice to see characters operate on their own so they can be fleshed out properly.

It will be interesting to see when they (Marvel) decides to bring him into a larger group setting.

Joking aside this good thing and of course he joins to MCU at some point, but it is best to start like this.

SOLD. officially most anticipated upcoming property. So it's DD s1 but even less lines about Avengers and New York. Brilliant. Good on Feige for allowing it. This gives me hope!

I'm soooooo on board with that.

Gotta say though, I wish they'd go with a more coy approach to the whole thing with Konshu.
I wish they'd make us question Mark's sanity to the level of actually questioning whether Konshu is real or just a creation of Mark's.

But then the mummy wraps pop up around his body out of nowhere, so I guess that's not gonna happen.
