It looked like Ms. Marvel was going to arrive on Disney+ at the end of this year, but with Hawkeye and The Book of Boba Fett on the way to the streaming service, there wasn't really much room left for Kamala Khan. As a result, we've been assuming the show would premiere in early 2022, but apparently not!
Talking to a fan on social media recently, Ms. Marvel star Mohan Kapur (who plays Kamala's father, Yusuf) claimed that the series won't actually arrive until June/July next year.
That does make sense in some respects; The Marvels arrives in theaters in July, so Ms. Marvel could then lead directly into the Captain Marvel sequel. However, that doesn't give casual fans much time to make sure they're fully up to date with the show before heading to their local multiplex to see Carol Danvers, Ms. Marvel, and Spectrum in action together.
It's entirely possible Kapur has got the wrong end of the stick here, especially as Marvel Studios has yet to announce its 2022 slate on Disney+ (we expect that to change during November's Disney+ Day). Until an official premiere date is revealed, though, it does seem like we could be waiting for Ms. Marvel a little longer than anticipated.
Hopefully, the series will be worth the wait. We know Marvel Studios is set to make some changes to the source material as Kamala's powers are likely going to come from Kree technology rather than her being an Inhuman. That's a shame, but was to be expected when those characters aren't (currently) part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Keep checking back here for Ms. Marvel updates.
