Following the release of that awesome first trailer for Ms. Marvel, some new promo art has surfaced showcasing an event we're definitely excited to check out in the series. It appears young Kamala Khan will don that makeshift Captain Marvel costume to attend "Avengercon," a convention that's clearly devoted to Earth's Mightiest Heroes (how cool does Hulk's Rage Room sound?).
With a little more room to tell stories thanks to the advantages offered by episodic television, we're starting to learn more about how people perceive The Avengers and superheroes in the MCU.
Some shots from "Avengercon" were featured in the trailer, though we weren't aware at the time that Kamala was attending an event meant to celebrate the heroes. However, after The Avengers restored those affected by The Blip, it's not surprising the public have moved on from the Sokovia Accords. Something tells us poor Spider-Man won't be among those being celebrated after London, though!
"Ms. Marvel is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?"
It's also been confirmed that joining Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel are Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha. Bisha K. Ali is the show's Head Writer, while episodes were directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.
Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ on June 8.
