A few days ago, Marvel Studios unexpectedly dropped the first trailer for Ms. Marvel, and it's definitely got fans talking. While some major changes have been made to the character's powers, the Disney+ series looks like an absolute blast, and Kamala Khan should be an exciting addition to the MCU.

Newcomer Iman Vellani plays Ms. Marvel, and during a recent visit to Marvel Studios' headquarters, the actress took the opportunity to share a message of gratitude with fans.

"Hi, I'm Iman Vellani and I play Ms. Marvel," she says in the video below, "and I would just like to thank everyone for watching the trailer. The response has been incredible and I'm very excited to finally have shared Kamala with the world. You know, she felt like my little secret for the longest time and now it's real and it looks real. It's crazy. June 8th. It's gonna be great."

Vellani's co-star in The Marvels, Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel), has also shared her response to the trailer. Clearly, the Oscar-winner is just as excited as the rest of us.

"Ms. Marvel is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?"

It's also been confirmed that joining Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel are Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha. Bisha K. Ali is the show's Head Writer, while episodes were directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ on June 8.

You can tell she is genuinely touched. Great story - this is her first-ever credit. I remember seeing the video where they told her she got the part via Zoom. What a whirlwind for someone that age to go from complete unknown to starring in her own show as a superhero and then being a supporting lead or co-lead in a movie to follow.

@ptick - think your mistaking her for the zoom call with the Supergirl actress? Unless I missed this one?

Yep looking forward to this. With both Marvel and Star Wars content, Disney+ should never have a break between shows. I'm greedy and want something on constantly.

I think it's great casting, I just don't like the kiddie show teenie bopper vibe, then again it's close to the source material I guess. Except for that stupid ass power band

@IcePyke - well to be fair it's not a ring she's wearing and she didn't show that due can make any object while having her bracelet on.
I would rather her have the comic book embiggen stetch powers but I gotta see how this plays out 1st.
But I'm not jumping on the she's Green Lantern band wagon.

Considering the failure that The Inhumans show was,I don’t think it’s a big surprise that her powers would change. The MCU has always made changes and so far they all worked out so the shift in her power set makes sense to me, and if their past changes are any indication it will make sense when the show airs

Not very woke to abort the first Muslim MCU hero's powers for the sake of a future stretchy white male.
