It's been quite a while since the epic finale of the second season of Hannibal, to say the least, and fans have been eagerly anticipating the show's third season without quite knowing when to expect it. That changed today when it was revealed that the third season will premier this summer on
June 4. While the first two season have acted as a prequel/reboot taking place before
Red Dragon (the first Hannibal Lecter novel), the first half of the third season will adapt the fugitive storyline from
Hannibal, while the second half of the season will be the start of the
Red Dragon storyline. Elements of
Hannibal Rising will also be incorporated into the show.
The third season stars Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal Lecter, Hugh Dancy as Will Graham, Joe Anderson as the criminal mastermind Mason Verger, Raul Esparza as the vengeful Doctor Chilton, Richard Armitage as Francis Dollarhyde/The Tooth Fairy, Fortunato Cerlino as Rinaldo Pazzi, and Glenn Fleshler as the money hungry nurse Cordell.
