As the "Geeked Week" reveals continue, Netflix has announced the full cast for its upcoming live-action Resident Evil series, and the streamer has enlisted a fan-favorite actor to play Albert Wesker.

Lance Reddick (John Wick, The Wire, Godzilla Vs. Kong for about 2 seconds) has been tapped to play the villainous character, who was introduced in the very first game before going on to become one of the franchise primary antagonists. He'll be joined by Ella Balinska (Charlie's Angels), Tamara Smart (Artemis Fowl), Siena Agudong (No Good Nick), Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), and Paola Núñez (The Purge) in undisclosed roles.

A new logline for the show reveals that "nearly three decades after the discovery of the T-virus, an outbreak reveals the Umbrella Corporation's dark secrets." You can check out a more details synopsis below.

The Netflix series will tell its new story across two timelines. In the first, 14-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world.
The second, more than a decade into the future sees less than 15 million people left on Earth. And more than 6 billion monsters — people and animals infected with the T-virus. Jade, now 30, struggles to survive in this new world, while the secrets from her past — about her sister, her father and herself — continue to haunt her.

Supernatural showrunner Andrew Dabb has been enlisted to oversee the the first season, which will run for 8 episodes.

"Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time," Dabb said back when the series was first announced. "I'm incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first-ever Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world. For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before."

No premiere date has been announced.

@inkniron - okay, I’m getting really sick of all you progressive types just aching to call someone a nazi / racist / whatever because they don’t like this casting. Here’s the facts: if they changed blades race to white you would be ripping your hair out of your head screaming about how horrible it is. There will never be a “best actor for the job” that happens to be a white person in a traditionally black role. We’re seeing a reversal of what happened in the days of whitewashing. Back in the day if a movie didn’t have enough white people in it they would change characters races to be more appealing to white audiences. This is the opposite. In times of wokeness in order to add diversity to your film/show you need to add in POC actors so the wokeists don’t crucify you on social media. Does it ever occur to you people that maybe We just want something that looks how the game looks? In the games, wesker is a blonde haired white dude. In the comics, Blade is a black man. I don’t want to see either of these characters changed because its how their creators originally envisioned them. The only reason race changes happen is to pander to the woke crowd and people just lap it up.
