Stranger Things fans have been anxiously awaiting word on an official premiere date for the fourth season of the insanely popular sci-fi/horror series, and Netflix has finally announced that the show will return sometime in 2022. That's obviously not very specific, but it's all we have to go on for now!

The streamer has also debuted the first snippets of footage via a brief teaser, which kicks off with some of the more memorable shots from the first three seasons. Then, around the 20 second mark, we're reintroduced to some familiar - and now quite a bit older - faces, and it looks like the gang may be attempting to rescue Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) from some mysterious captors.

A previous promo took us back to the Hawkins National Laboratory where we first met the psychic teen in season 1, and the return of Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) was seemingly hinted at. Did he somehow survive and manage to track down his former "patient"?

New cast additions for season 4 include A Nightmare on Elm Street legend Robert Englund, Jamie Campbell Bower (the Twilight films), Eduardo Franco (American Vandal), Joseph Quinn (Howard’s End), Sherman Augustus (Into the Badlands), Mason Dye (Bosch), Nikola Djuricko (Legends) and Tom Wlaschiha (Game of Thrones).

A love letter to the ‘80s classic genre films that captivated a generation, Stranger Things is a thrilling drama set in the seemingly normal Midwestern town of Hawkins, Indiana. After a boy vanishes into thin air, his close-knit group of friends and family search for answers and are pulled into a high-stakes and deadly series of events. Beneath the surface of their ordinary town lurks an extraordinary supernatural mystery, along with top-secret government experiments and a dangerous gateway that connects our world to a powerful yet sinister realm. Friendships will be tested and lives will be altered as what they discover will change Hawkins and possibly the world — forever.
Since its release in 2016, the global phenomenon Stranger Things has garnered over 65 award wins and 175 award nominations, including those from the Emmys, Golden Globes, Grammys, SAG, DGA, PGA, WGA, BAFTA, a Peabody Award, AFI Program of the Year, the People’s Choice Awards, MTV Movie & TV Awards, Teen Choice Awards, and many others. The three-time Emmy Award Nominee for Best Drama is one of Netflix’s most watched titles, with Season 3 alone amassing 40.7 million household accounts in its first four days — more than any other Netflix film or series in that timeframe — and 64 million member households in the first four weeks.

Hope its much better than season 3, arguably the worst season. A shame that season kind of eliminated a lot of the appeal (at least to me) of this show. And the extended delay due to covid? Its like who cares about season 4 anymore. Stranger Things feels like a show of the past, season 2 was the show at its peak, especially in terms of hype.

This is a bummer because I’ve been so hype for season 4 but I’ve waited this long what’s a little more waiting.

@McMurdo - I think her character is fine and the progression. Its possible fandom changed where her character was going to go. I do see some...."rinse & repeat" characteristics that are similar to how they handled Orange is The New Black after Season 2

Season 1 was solid because it riffed on so many movies that do it better but every season since then has been mediocre as [frick]. I just don’t even care about this show anymore.

This season got the same cinematographer as the Fear Street trilogy. I was really impressed with his work, particularly on the third entry set in 1666.

I thought he got some really nice shots despite the shit Netflix budget.

Season 1 was perfect. Season 2 was a huge letdown and season 3 was pretty dang good.
Here’s hoping the writers have figured out a good way to continue the story.
