The highly-anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series has assembled an impressive supporting cast to join Ewan McGregor as the legendary Jedi Master, and while we still don't know the first thing about most of their roles, one actor has now shared a very interesting piece of information about his character.

While chatting to Screen Rant about his F9 return, Sung Kang was asked about joining the galaxy far, far away for the upcoming show. Kang revealed that he's been a Star Wars fan since he was a kid, and is very excited for the opportunity to play with a real lightsaber this time.

"My friends and I would play pretend, we would make our own lightsabers out of toilet paper centers and stuff like that and paper towel cardboard, and to be able to be on set and see Darth Vader and see the Star Wars Universe in front of me, I mean -- just as a fan to be able to be part of that history is pretty amazing."

"I kept pinching myself to go, 'How did I end up here?", he added. "And, my character has a lightsaber, to go, 'What? This is.. It's not a toy. It's actually the real thing, right?' so pretty cool."

This is obviously a pretty significant reveal, as it would appear to confirm that Kang will be playing a force-sensitive character, and backs-up a recent rumor that he'll actually be portraying the Jedi-hunting Fifth Brother.

Specific plot details are under wraps, but we do know that Obi-Wan will be set between the events of Revenge Of The Sith and A New Hope. There are also rumors that younger versions of both Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa will appear, but that's yet to be confirmed.

Kang and McGregor will be joined by Moses Ingram, Indira Varma, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie. Hayden Christensen is also set to return as Darth Vader (you can check out some concept art of his costume here).

The Mandalorian director Deborah Chow is set to helm all episodes of the series, with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy on board as producer along-with Chow, Jason D. McGatlin (The Rise of Skywalker), Tracey Seaward (The Queen), and John Swartz (Rogue One).

My most anticipated series. Ever.

@MarvelousMarty - More excited for Ahsoka. Kind of wish this was more of a self-contained and Obi Wan focused story instead of shoehorning in Vader again when their story has pretty much been told. Still excited for this though.

Lucasfilm needs to hire a certain sniper

I mean, this could mean a number of things. Yes he could be someone who's force sensitive. Could also have taken a Light Saber from a dead Jedi. Could be obi wans light Saber that he has now for whatever reason then loses it later (and he worded it weirdly).

Next headline. “Kenobi series delayed because of reshoots of recast Sung Kang part.”

Hmmm....sounds like an Inquisitor.

Or maybe another rogue Jedi who survived Order 66 and Vader hunts him down? Could be cool too.

@MrDandy - It would be cool to see Cal Kestis, Ezra Bridger and Mace Windu appear in this, and the only Jedi to survive this attack from Vader are Kenobi and Ahsoka, and of course the Skywalker children.

Glad he has a lightsaber. Guy just looks like a force wielder. I don’t know how or why, but they just have a look. Like Sean Bean is a badass and often wields a sword, but imagine that’s a lightsaber and it looks wrong.

@SamaelSaint - Sean Bean could have been Qui Gon Jinn

@pyramosteu - That face with those clothes and a lightsaber just don’t go.

@SamaelSaint - Yes, but Qui Gon DID die, and if that’s not a Sean Bean thing to do in a role, nothing is.

Yeah could be he is an inquisitor, but I wouldn't mind it if he's a rogue Jedi that maybe even searches for Kenobi too. Only to find Vader instead

So next year, we're getting Andor, Mando S3, and Kenobi.

It's sad that Ahsoka and more importantly Acolyte will probably air in 2023, which is a long wait.

But hey, at least it is confirmed and moving, unlike Dc's Strange Adventures, GL, JLD and Constantine.

@UXASIS - I could have sworn Ahsoka was also 2022. Forgot Andor was even a thing, lol!
