OBI-WAN KENOBI Will Feature An Iconic Piece Of Darth Vader Imagery In Live-Action For The First Time Ever

A new report claims we can expect to see Obi-Wan Kenobi deliver an iconic piece of imagery in live-action for the first time, but be warned that this could be considered a major spoiler for the series.

After a brief tease in The Empire Strikes Back, it wasn't until Return of the Jedi's final moments that we got to see what lies beneath Darth Vader's helmet. The Star Wars prequels would introduce us to Anakin Skywalker, while Rogue One offered a glimpse inside the Sith Lord's Bacta Tank.

In Obi-Wan Kenobi, actor Hayden Christensen is donning Darth Vader's iconic armour, leading to speculation that we'll see more of the unmasked villain than ever before.

In Star Wars Rebels, a battle with Ahsoka Tano saw Vader's helmet cracked open and his evil, twisted face could be seen glaring back at his former apprentice. Now, Making Star Wars (via SFFGazette.com) reports that we can expect to see the same sort of imagery showcased in live-action later this year.

According to the site, "Darth Vader will have his mask broken in the limited series by everyone’s favorite 'hello there' saying Jedi Knight. Anakin will look at Obi-Wan with his 'own eye' one last time." No additional details about this battle are revealed, but it sounds like a lot of work went into making sure this moment would show "just the right amount of Hayden Christensen's face while still embodying the iconography of Darth Vader."

This sounds incredible, and precisely what fans are hoping to see from Obi-Wan Kenobi. Lucasfilm is clearly looking to make fans happy with this show, and while some have expressed concern about a little too much "fan service," everything we're hearing points to this story being exactly what it needs to be. After the divisive Star Wars sequels, that should be a massive relief.

Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ on May 25.

Sounds good to me! Wonder if they are considering a second season after this; unsure how they could top a darth vader rematch if they end up doing it though

I'm still kinda concerned about this if it's true. Vader literally says in ANH that he hasn't seen Obi-Wan since he was his apprentice which more or less lines up with their final fight in Episode III but really wouldn't make sense if they have another fight ten years after that and about seven years or so before ANH or whenever this is set.

Having said that, it could be really good in its own right which would make it kinda forgivable. At this point I think there's so much Star Wars out there and so many varying opinions that we can kinda just pick and choose what we consider canon and what we ignore, you know?

Like for me the OT is gospel, and then I love The Mandalorian and a lot of The Clone Wars, and I like Episodes 7 and 8 and Rogue One and Solo, and think Book of Boba and Episode 3 are okay, but then I haven't seen Rebels or Bad Batch yet and I kinda ignore most of what happens in Episodes 1, 2 and 9 because they're kinda shit.

So hopefully Obi-Wan Kenobi is something I can add to the good pile but if there's stuff in there I don't like I've got no problem just pretending that stuff didn't happen in my own head canon seeing as that's how I've been approaching Star Wars pretty much my whole life anyway 😂

Wonder if we’ll get a Vader stand alone series.

@OldMan - If Samuel L. Jackson wants to play Master Windu again, I can see that happening in a Vader Show.

Mace Windu's return may be a highlight during the Purge.

@OldMan - That has potential, and I'm wondering if they're waiting to see what reactions are to Kenobi first. Could be a great way to introduce a reimagined Galen or introduce Cal in live action.

I would also like to see the battle damaged Vader from force awakens, where his armor is destroyed, robes ripped, and just the breathing part of the mask on.

For the amount of times we've seen the Vader helmet appear on screen broken, it's not a very quality helmet. Lol

@ElricReturns - that's why he upgrades his helmet and Kenobi can't do that again in A New Hope.

Cool. So Disney copyright claimed Star Wars Theory’s Vader fan film just so they can get to this “iconic imagery” first. Still waiting for episode 2

Sounds cool but I feel we got that already in Rebels when Ashoka confronts him. We already kind of got this on Mustafar in Episode 3, whereas seeing someone who hadn’t accepted his turn to the dark side seeing him for what he’s become was a really powerful moment imo

I hope that we get some Vader action on the same level as this scene:

This probably makes sense being the final live action appearance of Vader as well, so hope they make the most of it.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Vader will be smaller in this compared to Rogue One, because they are two different people, and Hayden is smaller.
