Today's episode of The Book of Boba Fett spent a lot of time in the present day (post-The Mandalorian), revealing more about the threat the former bounty hunter is facing as Tatooine's new ruler.

The series wasted no time in sending Krrsantan after Fett, and a brutal fight ensued that culminated with the Wookiee assassin being locked in the empty Rancor's pit beneath Jabba's throne. The Twins (Jabba the Hutt's cousins) soon show up, and apologise for sending Krrsantan after Fett while presenting him with a gift in the form of a brand new Rancor. They also say he can keep the Wookiee, but the former bounty hunter later chooses to free his attempted killer.

However, the biggest surprise comes when The Twins confirm they're leaving Tatooine because it's not worth getting involved in the war that's coming.

Thanks to Mos Espa's mayor, they were mistaken in thinking Tatooine had been left to them, with the reality being that Jabba's kingdom has been promised to someone else. We don't learn who that is, but the Pykes later arrive on the planet after it's revealed that Mayor Shaiz has been working with them.

Something tells us the Pykes are working for the show's true big bad (we'd still bet on Crimson Dawn being involved), but as the episode ends, Boba Fett declares it's time to prepare for war.

Meanwhile, in the past, Fett travels into Mos Eisley to meet with the Pykes and demand credits for safe travel through the Tusken Raiders' lands, but they refuse to pay both them and the speeder-riding gang of crooks we've seen in previous episodes. Fett vows to deal with the group, but when he returns to the camp, the outlaws have killed every single one of the Sand People.
