Katee Sackhoff blew the minds of Star Wars fans everywhere when she brought her character from The Clone Wars, Bo-Katan Kryze, to live-action in season 2 of The Mandalorian. It was a casting decision that was fully embraced by fans of this Galaxy Far, Far Away, and to say the actress did an incredible job would be a disservice to just how damn great she was in the role.

We recently had Katee on the phone to discuss her role in Night of the Animated Dead, and while attempting to get any season 3 intel would have been a waste of time, we did ask the actress what about Bo-Katan and Din Djarin's new dynamic she's most excited to explore (now he's wielding the Darksaber).

"[Laughs] You know, whether or not we actually get to see that is above my paygrade. What I love about Bo-Katan, talking about animation and voiceover, is that for fans of The Clone Wars and Rebels, they know how capable she is. They know that she made a choice at the end of season 2 to not take that Darksaber and to not forcibly take it...even though she could have."

"I think that is the really important thing, and it would be fun to explore," she teased. "However, what they have done so well over there is continue to keep people on their toes, and the way that they do that is very cloak and dagger and keep things very tight to the chest. So, as I said, that is way above my pay grade. I have no idea!"

Din offered the Darksaber to Bo-Katan, but as Moff Gideon delighted in pointing out, the only way she would be happy to take the blade is if she earns it (likely by killing its previous holder). Where things go from here promises to be very interesting, but before anything could be decided on that front, our heroes obviously came face to face with Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker.

At the time of filming, Sackhoff and the rest of The Mandalorian's cast was under the impression that Plo Koon would be the Jedi that came to their aid. Despite not knowing who it really was on set, we asked Katee what it means to her to have shared the screen with a character as iconic as that Jedi Knight.

"Even just being part of this world when it was animated was a dream come true for me. I grew up watching not only Star Wars, but so many iconic sci-fi films with my dad. And Westerns. To be able to sit here talking to you 25 years after I started doing this and still be working, that’s insane to me. I’m just overwhelmed, but also very prepared. That’s something, 15 years ago, I wouldn’t have been had you told me I was going to be in a Star Wars TV show. I’d have been like, ‘Sure thing!’ [Laughs]"

Needless to say, we can't wait to see more of Bo-Katan in action, and cameras on The Mandalorian season 3 are expected to begin rolling next year. It's currently unclear whether Sackhoff will play a role in The Book of Boba Fett, though we'd love to see more of her dynamic with that character.

Night of the Animated Dead is set to be released digitally on September 21, and on Blu-Ray Combo Pack & DVD on October 5. Check out the trailer for the movie below:

Do you think Bo-Katan cuts her own hair? Like a 90's-mom style bowl cut but she uses her helmet
