"bold and distinctive sci-fi fantasy drama"

Yeah, that's why it's going to have beautiful 20-somethings discover that they're special in some way and must work together to defend themselves and the world from a grave danger.

Syfy doesn't really know how to handle good shows. Look at Firefly, The Dresden Files, etc... no matter how successful it is, Syfy will likely cancel it after a single season as they seem to suffer when it comes to matching appropriate sponsors up with shows. They'll likely take this 20-something's show and put it with adds for adult diapers. In a year they'll wonder why it failed to reach it's demographic target audience, and we'll have another show who's followers are upset at it's sudden cancellation. Syfy... stick to reruns of the Six Million Dollar Man, you've killed too many great shows already.

Shannara?
They're making a Shannara TV series!?
The only book I read from that series was downright painful, the prose and the dialogues loooked like something from a very bad fanfiction.

"Syfy doesn't really know how to handle good shows. Look at Firefly"

Syfy carried reruns of Firefly. Firefly was a Fox series...as already noted.

Syfy is hit or miss, not unlike the CW. I enjoyed Warehouse 13, Haven, Continuum and a few other shows on SyFy. Not saying they are great shows, but entertaining enough for me to watch.

There is a third Magician book on the way great series, but the first book suffers from a week ending. Best to read the first two books back to back as a single narrative.

Continuum is actually a Canadian show that SyFy rebroadcasts (very good show though). Sadly SyFy has the dubious honor of greenlighthing shows like Sharknado and Sharknado 2, giving the impression that they only create B rated content. Warehouse 13 and Eureka were good shows. If The Magicians stays away from "comedy" content, it could be a big hit for SyFy. Would be nice to see some more serious Sci Fi/Fantasy come to the channel.

Too bad Sam Raimi f.ucked up Terry Goodkinds books by making legend of the seeker. What about Raymond Feist.

Syfy does ruin great shows, remember ALPHAS, one of the best original series that they ever produced and it got cancelled after season 2!! Leaving a huge cliffhanger for fans!! After that, I avoided their shxtty programming and crappy movies....

I like how the article used Syfy and sci-fi in the President's quote.

@rockstar728

We will never be so lucky. Can you imagine the logistics of bringing all of those books to the big screen in a coherent fashion?

@BlindJustice

Drizzt would be an interesting character to bring to the screen
