2018's Venom was disliked by many fans, but based on the early buzz surrounding Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Sony Pictures was wise to enlist Andy Serkis to take charge of the sequel.
It's hard to imagine a live-action clash between these two iconic comic book characters being anything other than an absolute riot, of course, and Dolby has now shared an exclusive new poster for the movie. As you might expect, the focus is put squarely on Venom and Carnage, with the Tweet even asking, "Whose side are you on?" Both characters have their fair share of fans, that's for sure.
However, while Venom falls into "anti-hero" territory, Carnage is a full-blown villain and mass murderer. With that in mind, something tells us not too many people will be rooting for Cletus!
Earlier today, Tom Hardy addressed the possibility of a crossover with Spider-Man down the line, while Serkis opened up on Venom: Let There Be Carnage's surprisingly short runtime. It feels like there are big plans in place for this franchise, which is no great surprise after the first movie's box office success.
"Tom Hardy returns to the big screen as the lethal protector Venom, one of Marvel's greatest and most complex characters," reads a brief synopsis that was released on the movie's website (where you can now purchase tickets for the movie). "Directed by Andy Serkis, the film also stars Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris and Woody Harrelson, in the role of the villain Cletus Kasady/Carnage."
As noted, Venom: Let There Be Carnage stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson. It's set to be released in theaters on October 1, 2021.
