"The next legend is you" that's the tag line for this game but once you set off into the world of Dc Universe the real tag line reveals the truth really is in fact "Limited in every way"

Now let me explain a bit I was in the Beta, when the game came out I bought it (PC) and bought the Lifetime subscription of $199.99 with promise of "Monthly content" 3 months after release we got our 1st DL content a few cheap maps about Catwoman. Who Cares? On day 1 there were over 70k* users on PC alone fast forward 2 months the reported numbers were around 50k, The game was and IS a failure.

Let me Compare some things such as Content. A MMO services on content, games that have a Ton of content last longer, take for Example City of Heroes which recently went F2P That game even in its F2P mode offers over 40 cities, over 250 head pieces and over 2k armor pieces each with their own additions and addons, over 30 Raids and Large Dungeons to run some with up to 60 people and Huge boss fights, on the other hand DC offers you 2 cities, Very limited selection of Armor and super limited selection of powers and abilities. To top it off basic things like Electrical ground and other powers which were in games like Champions Online and City of Heroes on Day 1 are nowhere to be found.

Now lets get into Content some more in other MMOs a typical level 1 to Max out is usually 100hr+ and by then you will have seen about 70% of the game areas. In DC you got only 2 cities Gotham and Metropolis, you can level a character from 1 to Max in less then 20hr. And the real kicker is that you can do it without ever leaving your city.

Now I know that they are saying it was their intention from day 1 to go free to play. If that's the truth then the loyal fans such as myself were lied to and spit on with promises of special perks for being a lifer. Anyone who gets it now has access to the store as do I but I still need to pay for the stuff in it. So what do I actually get? "Legendary Status" the same thing anyone paying gets. If this is how I'm treated then why even bother?

Then there was the "MEGA SERVER" aka "No one is paying so merge all servers into 1" and guess what, population was still low. The monthly content they said would be coming has been moved to "2 times a year" the New DLC such as Green Lantern adds a few things like a new city but you can only go there in a linear mission.

In the end the reason I'm writing this article is to prevent people from making a mistake, DC Universe Online is like a trip to New York city its fun but not somewhere you want to live, it's dirty, smelly, and full of cracks and false promises in every direction. So before you take the 18gb download dive and expect the adventure of a lifetime just remember there are other free games that offer 900% more content and don't lie to you every chance they get!
