I hope Reptile is back, and frankly I was hoping for new characters given the "new generation" pitch boon was selling. Heck I would have accepted Skarlet as one seeing how she hasnt been in the story yet

I've been a MK fan since the first arcade games but I'm a bit disappointed with this. I thought by know graphics and characters will look more realistic. :-/

What disappoints me the most of every game after Mortal Kombat 4 is the fact that the games never reclaimed their edge factor and scariness.

The original three games were pretty [frick]ed up and scared the crap out of us kids, with MKII being the most effective and MK3 being the least. It actually scared me to stare at them, let alone play 'em! Even the story and sounds spooked me. It also was the same with MK4 as it was the first 3D game, had a similar edge, and had scary-ass Quan-Chi on the machine's side! It had such an effect on us that was so different from Street Fighter. You had to have grown up in the 90s to really understand. MK Trilogy was the cream of the crop for us playing at home and that was scary too!

I lost interest in the series with Dreamcast's MK Gold as Soul Caliber took all my time. Every game that followed became a standard fighting game with no edge and the fatalities became goofy and completely lost their reverence. The series has never reclaimed from it's heyday while on the other hand, Street Fighter is doing better than ever. The problem is Ed Boon could never compete with SF as a pure fighting game. What made MK stand out was it's frighting presence and without that it just falls a bit flat to me. Even with today's graphics, it still can't compete with the masterpiece that is Mortal Kombat II.
