Hey there guys, yes we're back with yet another REVEAL. This time we're un-boxing and reviewing Nintendo's Mini SNES, the latest in their miniature re-releases of classic gaming consoles. The world of gamers went insane when Nintedo announced the Mini NES some time ago and after pressing too fewer consoles to meet demand, many a nostalgic gamer was left in anger having missed out of a small piece of their childhood once again hitting shelves.
Not long after the Mini NES was released some crafty folks data-mined Nintendo's websites and found patents for a Mini SNES and a Mini Nintendo 64. Wouldn't you know mere months later preorders became available for the Mini SNES and upon their release a yesterday (here in Australia) we picked one up and decided to un-box it and review for you all.
Immediately apparent is the improved build quality. It feels sturdier and as though there is a bit more weight then the previously released Mini NES. After drvoes of people attacked Nintendo for subsequently not including a second controller for the Mini NES, the Mini SNES does in fact include 2 controllers both with much longer cords making sitting further from the T.V. possible without the need for the extensions. Inclusive of 20+ games including the previously unreleased Star Fox 2 (unlocked by beating the first level in Star Fox) and also Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars which was also unreleased here in Australia until it hit virtual console in 2008.
With fan favourites including Donkey Kon country, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and multiple Kirby and Mario titles including Mario Kart, the Mini SNES is a console filled to the brim with many a young adults childhood including our own.
