Warner Bros. Turn To TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Scribe For TOMB RAIDER Reboot

Just like the video games series itself, the Tomb Raider property is being rebooted and it has now found a home in the form of Warner Bros. and the writer of G.I. Joe 3. Read on for details...

Deadline reports that Evan Daugherty has been chosen to write Tomb Raider, the upcoming reboot being developed by MGM and producer Graham King. Joining them though is Warner Bros., and they will distribute the film (which doesn't have a release date as of right now as it's obviously still in the very early stages of development). Daugherty has a varied and lengthy list of past projects, including Divergent, the upcoming G.I. Joe 3, Snow White and the Huntsman, and last year's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  The Tomb Raider movies which starred Angelina Jolie grossed over $400 million worldwide combined, and with moviegoers demanding more strong female characters, this property should now find a lot of success. It's mentioned that the reboot is being put on the fast track and that it will feature a much younger Lara Croft on her first adventure.

If it sticks close to the tone of the newest game then it will easily be better than the awful Jolie ones.

I would love for them to reboot this in the way of the new games. The idea of anybody from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles related to this scares me.

Now that the ridiculously obvious fan-cast is out of the way, let's hear some real suggestions now haha.

It's a physical impossibility for this to be worse than the Jolie films.

What the [frick] were those?!

I don't like any of these movies, which are listed. When it comes to video games and anime I think it's better the movie to be CGI than a live-action one.

Also someone should make an article about the confirmed tv adaptation of Sex Criminals.

I'm excited about a new Lara Croft. I hope they get a young unknown actor. No way to a Megan Fox.

I can just imagine the board meeting where this was decided: "You know who has written a bunch of terrible movies? Evan. Let's get him to write a terrible movie for us".

How about take 2013 Tomb Raider game and make a movie out of that. The story is already written.

@Doopie
Fraction and his wife secured adaptations for all their creator-owned work and will be producing it themselves.

@Gusto
Lara Croft not Lara Crotch.

However, if there's a new Lara Croft movie, I'd like to see Kaya Scodelario in the leading role.
