In 1999, Rebellion developed a PC game that earned a place in gaming history with its innovative blend of cutting-edge gameplay and technology to provide a truly terrifying gaming experience. Ten years on, and Rebellion is at the helm of Twentieth Century Fox’s Aliens Vs. Predator franchise, and once again, they’re pushing some very important boundaries with the inclusion of DirectX 11.

The addition of DirectX 11 hardware tessellation enables Rebellion to capture the detail, essence and tone of the Aliens and Predator movies, providing players with the most unique gaming experience in franchise history.

Chris Kingsley, CTO of Rebellion said, “DirectX 11 provides opportunities never exploited before in 3D graphical terms, with features such as the Shader Model 5.0 providing better shadow and depth of field aspects to the game, and also multi-threaded rendering enabling the Aliens Vs. Predator futuristic characters and environments to be realised in exacting detail but with absolutely no frame rate issues. We are confident we will deliver a game the fans have been waiting for and one of which we will be very proud.”

Chris Southall, Technical Director at SEGA Europe added, “With the advent of DirectX 11 on PC and the new DirectX 11 class graphics hardware, the increased speed, realism and fidelity of rendering mean that it’s possible to achieve more in a videogame than ever before. SEGA is delighted to be working with Rebellion and AMD to maximise the use of this new technology for Aliens vs. Predator, and we feel both these partners are really doing something very special. Aliens vs. Predator is set to be one of SEGA’s biggest ever titles, and we are very happy that it will also be one of the very first DirectX 11 titles out to market.”

Gary Rosenfeld, Senior Vice President, New Media for Fox Licensing commented, “Rebellion knows the Aliens Vs. Predator franchise almost as well as we do. We can’t wait for gamers to see what they’re ready to unleash now that they have the ability to craft a game in even greater detail. It’s going to be great.”

I personally can't wait till my new pc is built with the New hydra motherboards that come out in a few months. This will give a 2 monitor display with no problems. What do u think of that Nathan?

@Spock - I LOVE a good two monitor set up! I'd be running one right now if my desk had room for both of my 24" monitors (darn that fancy looking bookshelf/hutch!) :o(

I've been running an NVidia NForce 680i SLI set up that I build for the last few years, but it's starting to have trouble with some of the newer games, so I've been using it mostly for work (graphics, video editing, etc) and playing games on my Xbox and PS3.

I'd like to go liquid cooled with my next set up :o)

Maybe I'm mistaken, but normally wouldn't such a huge jump in Shader Models require new hardware in order to work? ie - new graphics cards.

As long as it's backwards compatible with the older versions of DirectX, it should be OK... If it's something that's going to require a hardware upgrade, they'll have problems.
