Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins confirmed that she's working on a third solo outing for Diana Prince during DC FanDome last month, while strongly hinting that the original small-screen Amazon, Lynda Carter, was set to return as Asteria. Now, star Gal Gadot has made it official.

The Red Notice (you can check out our review here) actress was asked about Carter's potential involvement while chatting to THR, and revealed that the legendary TV star has been mentoring her ever since she landed the role of Wonder Woman.

"First of all, Lynda has mentored me from the very first moment that I got cast as Wonder Woman," Gadot said. "She was always there, talking to me, giving me tips and everything. She's a true champion of what Patty [Jenkins] and I have been doing, and it was so great that we managed to find the right opportunity to bring her to the last movie and now to the third one."

“It’s even better this time. I love her very much. I love her dearly," she added.

Carter made a brief appearance in the mid-credits scene of WW84 as legendary warrior Asteria, who was believed to have been killed when she sacrificed herself in order to allow her fellow Amazons to escape "the tide of man" and settle on the island of Themyscria. Diana donned her golden armor for the final battle against Cheetah.

Very little is known about Warner Bros.' plans for Wonder Woman 3, but after the decidedly mixed response to WW84, we wouldn't be surprised if the studio asked Jenkins to go back to the drawing board on the story outline.
