Evan Peters Will Return As Quicksilver In X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX; Lamar Johnson Joins The Cast

Hot on the heels of their New Mutants story, The Hollywood Reporter has now learned that Evan Peters will reprise his fan-favorite role as Quicksilver in the highly anticipated X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which is set to kick off production in Montréal sometime this week.

With Peters' inclusion, it appears as though 20th Century Fox has managed to pull off quite the coup, returning practically every member of their X-Men: Apocalypse cast, including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, and Kodi Smit-McPhee. It's a pretty remarkable accomplishment, especially considering bringing everyone back almost didn't seem possible at this time last year when the three-film contracts of their First Class cast expired.

Additionally, Canadian actor Lamar Johnson has joined the ensemble cast in a mysterious role. He currently stars on the BAFTA award-winning Canadian series The Next Step. He's also set to appear in the upcoming Daniel Craig/Halle Berry thriller Kings

Ace producer Simon Kinberg will make his directorial debut with the long-running franchise's thirteenth installment (seventh in the main storyline), utilizing a script he penned.

So, what do you guys think? Who do you think Johnson is playing? Sound off with your thoughts below!

@Memorator - sonething besides him being a man who lives in his mom's basement would be great.

@ALegendaryPanda - Yeah, he should be in his 30s now? 40s?

@ALegendaryPanda - Better yet. Do fans still care about this franchise? I don't see anyone get excited anymore for any Xmen related announcements.

@SonOfAGif - I would argue Logan brought some energy back into the franchise, however I wouldn't consider it part of said franchise. But after Apocalypse I agree I'm not sure how I feel about more adventures with this team.

@MrCamw1 - particularly since its the dark phoenix saga. a little early for that business...wish they would have gone with proteus, maybe nimrod and rachel summers. leave dark phoenix for the last movie.

@MrCamw1 - And I would argue that Logan and Deadpool are barely xmen films. Which is why people were excited for them.

@CuddlyCereal - they still have ties to them. Even with all the continuity/timeline/reality issues

@SonOfAGif - Yes and no. Yes as in they were glad that Singer was leaving to let new blood direct. No in that it was masterclass producer and shit writer Simon Kinberg replacing him.

@MrCamw1 - Which is why I said barely. The ties are certainly there but their paper thin in the grand scheme of the movie and don't really matter that much.

@SonOfAGif - of course FANS still care...statements like this are borderline asinine. If YOU aren't a fan of the series then YOU don't care. But FANS of the series will obviously care. The comment section had 200+ comments so someone gives a shit.

Let me guess: he's still gonna be a grown ass man in his mom's basement, who decides to put his laziness on pause to help the X-Men and in doing so get one cool slo mo/super speed scene that will inevitably not live up to the DOFP sequence...

@BlackBeltJones - wasnt he a member of the X-Men by the end of the last movie? He'll probably be living at the mansion.

@Luminus - The CGI in the apocalypse scene was so much worse than in DOFP

@ArmFallOffBoy - It's just that you're not used to seeing people move like the ones he was saving. Here, look how fake this looks (but it's real!):

Shouldn't he be in his late 30s/early 40s at this point in the timeline?
