On The Negative Reactions To X-Men Origins: Wolverine:

Jim Gianopulos: "We're proud of the film and we're proud of Hugh Jackman's work in the film. I think one of the things that has always been a balancing act in the X-Men universe is we have this wonderful base of fans that are deeply immersed in the heritage of these characters, and then we have the civilians. And you have to make the property accessible to people who haven't experienced it. So you need to make certain adaptations, creatively, in order to open up the property a little bit. And that's where I think the fans feel that we missed a turn some place."

On What To Expect From X-Men: First Class:

Tom Rothman: "X-Men: First Class was Bryan Singer's idea and Matthew Vaughn has started directing it. Firstly, it's about the foundation of the friendship between Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr and then eventually the evolution of the split between Professor X and Magneto. In many ways it's bigger than we may have been before in the X-films because it's global - it goes all around the world in it's natural story evolution."

Typical... high-pirced suits trying to cover their own @sses and justifying the crap thy dish out by blaming the fans for 'not understanding'. Hey idiots, WE are the reason WHY there was a demand for these movies in the first place! Ignoring us is like shotting yourself in the foot. Get ready to take aim again!

These idiots are just spewing out crap. When has a studio ever admit that the film they release was total crap. WB released Batman and Robin ON FREAKING BLU RAY!!!! SEE HORRIBLE ACTING IN HIGH DEFINITION!!!!!....lets see them admit that with dragonball evolution being a good film too. I do have hopes for First class, but one more mess up and they should give Disney the franchise.

Wow I thought I would never look at an actual picture of Satan's minions but there it is, now I know who to spit on lol

AND IS HE REALLY TRYING TO DEFEND X-MEN ORIGINS WOLVERINE AND BLAME US FOR WANTING A GOOD MOVIE?! THE BASTARD! My friend hated Wolverine and he has no interest in comics at all. He hated the movie because it was poorly made as all people did, comic book fans and non-comic book fans alike

X-Men First Class is gonna suck too. Let Marvel Studios get the rights back to Fantastic Four and X-Men as fast as possible. At least Marvel care about fans, try to make good movies AND make movies accessible to the general public unlike Fox

Well hopefully they wont find a comics guy and put him in charge of overseeing these films so they will all suck and marvel can get them back and do them right .

You're F#@%ing kidding me?? What were the 3 X-Men movies before X-Men: Wolverine @$$holes?!?!? Can't be more open than that!!! Let Wolverine go berserker for more than 3 minutes if you want to see the fans happen... and bring back Gambit. LOL

Um.... Mr. Gianopulos, are you even proud of the terrible scene w/ Wolvie checking out his new claws in the mirror? E.T. had better effects than Borigins!!! And, we as fanboys aren't only mad b/c you "opened up the property a bit", but b/c you shat all the comics, made a movie that consisted mostly of your own made up bullshit, and b/c the movie WAS FLAT OUT BAD.

write that down.

I propose a trade between fox and marvel/disney:

give Marvel/Disney all of the Marvel characters back and you can have the rights to Snow Dogs 2. Whatdya say?

LMAO ... What did critics think of the Wolverine? They would have a point if it wasn't for the fact that all it did was get bad reviews, like fans of the comic are the only ones that didn’t care for it. It was every one!

"we're proud of how the film turned out."
well they're not gonna say x-men origins wolverine sucked balls are they.

we need marvel to get these rights back,i don't think i can take much more of fox f*cking up my favorite x-related comics anymore.
GrimeKid
GrimeKid - 8/5/2010, 1:32 PM
the reason X-Men Origins:Wolverine was bad is not because FOX had to satisfy "civilians". It's bad because the film was terribly made

I dont get it...its a movie based on a comic book, of course you can expect a lot of it to be unrealistic. Why the need to change it to make it accessible to non CB readers? Just a bunch of crap. Those 2 assholes up there dont give a crap about you...they just wanna keep lining their fat pockets. Gluttony is a deadly sin nitwits!

I think the part they missed in the article is the bit where he basically says “you have to make it accessible to (civilians) because they won’t understand it the way the fans do.” Now, that’s not exactly what he said but it essentially is.

The part where he is wrong is that the X-Men and other comics are so popular because normal people enjoyed them based on the stories that are already out there. Fox seems to assume that regular people won’t like a true X-Men movie adaption for some stupid reason.

***NEWS FLASH FOX EXECUTIVES***

Fanboys and girls were regular fans at one point and a love for the original source material turned us into hardcore fans. If this can happen to this many people what makes them think it wouldn’t work for other regular people…especially in terms of a film???

And these are the two men who I'll first target if Fox [frick] up Deadpool as they have pretty every other CBM they've been responsible for...

The fact is, these two idiots have been responsible for movies like Fantastic Four, Elektra and Wolverine. All of which were awful. If their excuse for that is to make them "accessible to people who haven't experienced it", then they do not deserve their jobs. Just look at Iron Man or Batman Begins. Fantastic movies accessible to "civilians".

DCMF: Thanks bud, and I agree on both counts! :)

That is the LAMEST arguement EVER!! Making it accessible for "civilians" would be a fair arguement IF it weren't a friggin spinoff of an already existing 3-movie-deep franchise! Who are the supposed newb civilians who were going to go to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" yet never saw X-Men 1, 2 or 3? What would that be? Maybe 5 or 6 people? The first 3 movies already built your non-geek "civilian" fanbase! If they weren't on board already, f'ing up a spin off sure wasn't going to bring 'em in! Talk about faulty, moronic, corporate logic.

The Wolverine Origins movie was pretty decent up until they turned Deadpool into Barakapool and how Gambit and Blob were handled... that's where they went really wrong.
