Simon Kinberg Creating A Shared Comic Book Movie Universe For Fox's Marvel Characters

Simon Kinberg and his Genre Films banner have signed a new three-year first-look deal at 20th Century Fox, and part of that will include helping the studio create a shared cinematic universe for their Marvel characters just as Kevin Feige has done for The Avengers. Read on for details!

Simon Kinberg penned the screenplay for X-Men: Days of Future Past and was recently hired to take a crack at the Josh Trank helmed The Fantastic Four, but the writer/producer's next gig will be to create a shared cinematic universe for Fox. According to the site, "The new deal lets him continue to expand those franchises into full-blown universes, with the hope of creating for Fox something akin to the Marvel model of interlocking movies." In Kinberg's own words, he says: "I have a lot of ideas on how to built those brands and do what everybody is thinking of these days: Be like Marvel. I want to be able to build stories over multiple movies." So, don't be surprised if we actually get to see an X-Men Vs. Fantastic Four movie at some point in the near future! Kinberg is also working on a Star Wars spinoff for Disney. How do you guys feel about this news?

It's been a great news week. Christmas came early. Only way to top it is if Marv Studios surprises us with something.

Seriously, none of this would be happening if Marvel wasn't having all the sustained success they continue to have. Nobody can doubt the influence Marvel has over these other studios. Fox, WB, and Sony never gave a shit having cohesive films and now they're going out of their way to have them. It's crazy when you really think about it.

So we got the MCU going strong, a DCU kick-starting, Sony making a large Spider-Man universe with many villains and spin-offs, and now FoX-Men getting a larger universe. I'd say its a good time to be a comic book fan :)

FOX.........A shared "X-Men" universe, YES(even though I hate you) but a "FORCED" X-Men/Fantastic Four universe is trying way too hard, let it go, man just let it go.

Ok, this is great.
I'm NOT familiar with Apocalypse stuff, can some one tell me what X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is about?
Why Wolverine can't be in it!

Anyone some minor detail?

I know Marvel Studios is "ok" with what they have but at some point they need to start working toward getting "their" shit back and stop taking it in the sphincter by studios who refuse to sell their own characters back. Sometimes you have to fight for whats truly yours.

I always hated Collossus's Ultimate look. I prefer when he's got indentations as opposed to the metal sheath of skin.

I know people will hate me for saying this but I don't think the F4 is worthy of a movie. They are original Marvel Characters but really they are like B list characters in the MU. But I would really like to see a F4 show I think that if its done right and the right network it could be great.

Yup, great to be a comic book fan indeed! The Golden Age of Comic Book Fandom. Popular comics to graphic novels alike, might have movies, tv shows, video games, pop culture references, reality tv shows featuring fans.

Sure, it may be a fad like anything else. Even a bandwagon to jump on for your general audience member. But I'll take it.

Just five years ago we couldn't imagine the things we could complain, bicker and be divided on as we are today.

I'll take it all!

Instead of doing what marvel does just give them their ufcking franchises back! FF is going to suck hard. I dont want that anywhere near xmen after their comeback from x3 and origins. Spidey belongs to Sony however so I dunno if they'll play along with how Webb has reinvented the franchise. They're in talks to expands spideys world they don't need docs shitstorm
