Kelsey Grammer Talks X-MEN: DOFP Cameo; Hopes To Return As 'Beast' For Another Movie

It had been rumoured for a while, but Kelsey Grammer's return as 'Beast' in the final few minutes of Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past was still a very nice surprise. Here, the actor talks about what led to him reprising the role and whether he hopes to play the character again in future.

In the final few moments of X-Men: Days of Future Past, we saw several notable members of the cast from the original trilogy return in a newly created timeline which wiped away many of the franchise's past mistakes. While it was only for a split second, one of those was Kelsey Grammer as Beast, and Collider caught up with the actor at the Transformers: Age of Extinction set to ask how the cameo came about. "Actually I called Bryan. I bumped into Hugh Jackman and he said, ‘Oh you’re gonna be in another X-Men, mate!’ and I said, ‘No I’m not, I don’t know anything about it.’ So I made a couple of inquiries, got a hold of the script, found out that it’s primarily dealing with the past and that timeline I don’t have a place in, but I saw that at the end there was this coda where he made an appearance. I said, ‘Listen, I really wanna be involved,’ so Bryan arranged for it and I had a lovely time." As for whether he believes that this new timeline will be further explored in the near future or if he would like to play Beast again, the actor added: "I hope to do another. I hope they find some way to come up with a new story that involves Beast in my timeline." Be sure to click on the link below to watch the video interview.

But I'm confused, wouldn't future Beast, Professor X, Mystique and Magneto know of the changed timeline?

He was the best thing in X3(other than that, the other thing that movie had good in it was a few good action scenes).

Kelsey sound like he's a big fan of the character, glad he had his 2-5 second cameo in the film

I was very happy to see him and Marsden at the end. Grammer suits Beast well. There's probably not going to be another chance for him to play the character since they're moving forward from the past timeline, but who knows.

hell yes!! Kelsey needs another sequel to explore adult Beast. There's so much cool stuff he can do with the role yet. X3 was just so little

Bring the x-men to present time, Fox! damm it. Adult x-men can be much more badass and more epic

He could actually be brought back for Apocalypse. Picture this:

Introduce Cable (with Bishop & Domino as his partners) & make him the bridge between the timelines. Have him first go to the present....future....whatever & bring back the X-Men (but no Professor X or Magneto. Too old for time travel. And no one who'd already be on the team in the past. Encountering your future or past self could disrupt the time-space continuum.) to join their younger selves against Apocalypse. Once in the past, Apocalypse is able to get his Four Horsemen: Beast (Grammar), giving us Dark Beast, Angel (giving us Archangel), Magneto (Fassbender) & Wolverine (present timeline). So that makes it:

X-Men:
Professor X (McAvoy)
Mystique (Lawrence)
Beast (Hoult)
Young Cyclops
Young Jean Grey
Young Storm
Young Nightcrawler
Quicksilver (Evans)
Iceman (Ashmore)
Rogue (Paquin)
Kitty (Page)
Colossus (Cudmore)
Cable
Bishop
Domino

Apocalypse
Mr. Sinister
Gambit (loyal to Sinister)
Dark Beast
Archangel
Magneto
Wolverine
Toad
Avalanche

For all of the WELL-DESERVED shizznit 'X-Men: The Last Stand' receives, it DOES have probably one of THE best CBM castings of all time and that's Kelsey Grammer as 'Beast'. I saw him as the perfect grown-ass Hank McCoy back in the mid-80's when I first saw him on 'Cheers'.

I'd like to see him replace Nicholas Hoult as Beast. Kelsey was amazing as Beast in X3.

Bring him back, hate the current actor who does Beast. Mccoy was never a skinny little twerp, he was big and bulky even before the further mutations.

Don't get the love for his character or him. He looked awful in the third film and his abilities were comical at best.

Beast just doesn't work as a believable character, as crazy as that sounds considering the mutants involved in the film.

Beast is better when he's just being smart in human form, in blue smurf form, he's just a wannabe hulk.
