BOND 25 Writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge Comments On Rumor That Lashana Lynch Is Taking Over As 007

It looks like Lashana Lynch may indeed be poised to replace Daniel Craig as 007 in the James Bond franchise.

Responding to a recent rumor that the Captain Marvel actress would be introduced as an MI6 agent sporting the iconic's spy's codename in the still untitled Bond 25, writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Solo: A Star Wars Story) told THR that "the whole thing has potential to birth new iconic characters all the time."

That's not confirmation, of course, but nor is it a denial, and her comments do seem to suggest that Lynch may indeed be set to take up the mantle of 007 in Daniel Craig's absence.

Waller-Bridge was brought on to polish the existing script, and she is the fifth credited screenwriter along with director Cary Joji Fukunaga, co-writer Scott Z. Burns and usual Bond scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.

"A lot has been made of me coming on board because I'm a woman, and that's wonderful, she adds. "But also I can't take credit for the movie that was written. It's Cary's movie."

What do you guys make of this? Would you be happy with Lynch taking over as 007, or should James Bond himself always be the lead of this franchise? Drop us a comment down below. Bond 25 is set to hit theaters on April 8, 2020.
