ROCKY 7: Sylvester Stallone Reveals Story Details For Scrapped Sequel In Now-Deleted Social Media Post

Sylvester Stallone's time as part of the Rocky franchise has ended, but despite his ongoing dispute with producers, the actor has now shared what might have been had a seventh movie become a reality...

Complicated rights issues mean Sylvester Stallone isn't free to do what he likes with the Rocky franchise, and that means the Hollywood icon will never star in a seventh chapter of the long-running boxing franchise.

The actor and filmmaker has previously blamed producer Irwin Winkler for that, and he's levelled accusations that include withholding the rights from him despite promises he argues were once made. Stallone is also unhappy with the direction Michael B. Jordan has taken Creed III in, so yeah, we won't be seeing him again as Rocky there either!

In a now-deleted Instagram post (first covered over at ActioNewz.com), Stallone once again took aim at Winkler and shared new details about what the movie could have been.

That includes artwork from painter Jon Rivoli and the reveal that the story was going to follow Rocky as he fights "for the neighborhood that made him and that he still loves."

Other revelations include the fact he was still going to be running Adrian's Restaurant, a flashback or imaginary conversation with Rocky talking to Adrian, and the fact the younger boxer he was set to mentor was likely going to be a 27-year-old called Chucho the Mutt.

Below, you can see Stallone's original Tweet linking to the now-deleted Instagram post (we're not sure why he took it down) and the photos the actor shared courtesy of a fan who managed to save them before they vanished.

Do you wish Rocky 7 had happened?

Can't believe the guy who created this franchise and incorporates elements of his own life into every movie, isn't allowed to continue his story.

such bullshit

if he can find people willing to put money into these projects he wants to make, let him do it.

without stallone pushing there would be no rocky balboa, meaning there would be no creed, and there would be no opportunity to squeeze him out of it.

if it werent for stallone working to get stuff made, the rocky series would have ended on the low note of rocky 5. Coogler went to stallone for creed, not winkler.

I thought Creed was the perfect evolution to the Rocky franchise. The first Creed is one of the best Rocky movies. I wish he would have had a better send off in that franchise.

It’s better that he can’t make this sequel.
Rocky Balboa ended it perfectly.
Two trilogies.
Rocky came to terms with Adrian’s death.
He silenced the beast in “the basement”.
He resolved the issues his son had with him.
Rocky Balboa was perfect.

@TyrantBossMedia - Rocky ended it the best. Rocky II not so much. Rocky III was a very good ending. Rocky Balboa was a bit of a farce. The fight sucked because they tried making it seem like it was on pay per view. And it was ludicrous that a young champ would fight a 60 year old. It would be a lose/lose situation.

@PartyKiller - Farce?
Hell man, George Foreman won the heavyweight title at 48.
Rocky was in his late 50s in Rocky Balboa.

It was a great movie. The PPV of the fight was perfect because it showed what’s show boxing had become.
That was the only way they would watch an older boxer fight a younger boxer.

@TyrantBossMedia - Rocky Balboa is a very good movie. It didn't get the promotional hype of the first 5 films.

@GeneralZod - Rocky was the perfect movie for a perfect time. The 70s were all about gritty, character driven, human interest stories.
And with Rocky, coming at the end of the Vietnam War and Watergate, America needed something to believe in.

Rocky II was a good movie. It was a bit of a retread but it completed the journey nicely.

Rocky III was actually fun. That was when Rocky started to really become a juggernaut.
And I really like how the movies mirror Stallone’s personal journey. He wrote Rocky as someone with so much fame that it was getting in his way.

Rocky IV was just a money maker and not really great.
The recipe lit that Stallone put out in 2021 (Rocky v Drago) is a MUCH better film. If you haven’t seen it I highly recommend.

Rocky V was a mess. I get what Stallone was trying to do but he went about it all wrong. He wanted to close out the saga.
When asked to rate it from 1-10 he gave it a zero,

That’s why he wanted to make Rocky Balboa. He said he made it to give the fans a better ending.

Hype wise, It’s amazing that Stallone has been able to keep a franchise and character running and iconic for nearly 50 years. (2026 will be 50).

It breaks the heart to see an artist lose control of a Mona Lisa. However
we will never forget

He should just retire and go spend his twilight years with his hairpiece.

Meh, for me Rocky’s arc completed with Rocky IV and there the franchise ends. Both 5 and 6 felt like he was trying to artificially extend the series. The Creed movies are a pure cash-grab.

This generation only knows Stallone for his incredibly beautiful daughters, and he is just the funny old guy in their TikToks. I think he should just write or direct at this point.
