SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Director Jon Watts Sets Next Project With George Clooney & Brad Pitt To Star

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that a massive bidding war has emerged for Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts' next project, which is expected to star 2x Academy Award-winners and former Ocean's Eleven co-stars George Clooney (Michael ClaytonUp in the Air) and Brad Pitt (Fight Club; Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood) in the lead roles.

Watts is slated to write, direct and produce the film, with Clooney and Pitt starring and co-producing with their respective production houses, Smokehouse Pictures and Plan B Entertainment. Both are expected to earn paydays north of $20 million.

As for where it may land, that remains up in the air for now, but the entirety of Hollywood is currently fighting it out, and THR reports that Sony, Lionsgate, Apple, and Netflix are among the frontrunners to land the star-studded package, while Amazon, Annapurna, Universal, MGM, and Warner Bros. are also heavily interested.

Plot details are being held under wraps, but the film is said to be a thriller with the story following two lone wolf fixers who find themselves assigned to the same job.

This untitled project will be Watts' first original film since 2015's Cop Car, having then quickly become a favorite of Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios with his work on Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and this December's Spider-Man: No Way Home. He's already been tapped to helm Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four, which is currently in the earliest stages of development, but based on the production timeline, it seems quite possible he could tackle the Clooney/Pitt-starrer before getting to work on introducing Marvel's First Family.
