How often have you wondered why the writers behind the various animated DC series and films aren't given a shot at live action versions? That question was put to producer Bruce Timm in this audio interview.

Thanks, grif. It's not a question of people not asking, but simply that they won't reveal anything. So far all we know is that Batman Year One and Green Lantern: Emerald Knights will be coming after All-Star Superman (though, I don't think, in that order).

Hellmont @ Its a pride thing here at CBM to mention when you are first to respond to an article. Most of us refer to it as "FISTING"! Although sometimes the editor (the almighty GALACTUS) will remove a FISTER.

BTW...here are must see animated movies:

Batman: The Long Halloween
Superman: RED SON
Batman: HUSH
Kingdom Come
and...
The Dark Knight Returns. Micheal Ironside should voice Bats like he did when they made a mini TDK in an episode of BTAS during one of the last years

Why thank you. It is a pride thing. Other ppl do it, so why can't I? Duz he hav a problem with the batman - lol.
& hellzyeh to those movies you listed. But the trend i'm kinda seeing is mainly Superman, Batman & Justice League.
We need more individual movies. I for one would like to see some that focus on the Flash. from Barry Allen go right up the gamut

I prefer the animated movies to the live-action ones. The animated ones are usually produced by artists and other people who know, love, and respect the characters, and really want to do them right. Many live-action comic films, on the other hand, are done by these arrogant prick directors and writers who want to screw up the costumes and change the characters all around, ruining what makes the characters cool in the first place. Many of them see a comic film as just another job, not a chance to see a lifelong favorite character come to 'life'.

A major difference between the two versions is the scope in which they are able to pull off with the limited budget they have. An animated film has more freedom and less restraint when it comes to its' Set pieces whereas a live action would have to handle sets, actors, and post production cgi effects and editing. I for one would love to see WB or Disney release an animated super hero film that wasn't limited to the live action route. Disney is in the forefront for animation studios and has continued to evolve as a company and studio. I could see Marvel/Disney do some animated shorts with some of the characters that wouldn't be strong enough or profitable for a big screen movie. I think some stories cannot be told with the live action medium, rather using the animation techniques that Disney continues to evolve with every film they release on the occasion. I admit I saw some of Princess and the Frog on TV and was amazed by the visual style they were using. I think if giving the time and energy, John Lassetter and his studio could bring us some amazing things with our favorite characters from Marvel

Well for future movies I have to 2nd and 3rd Superman Red Son, great bit of else worlds writing.

I was recently going through my comics after having a talk with friends about movies leading into the JLA like Marvel is the Avengers. I came up with I think would be an awesome Green Arrow movie, Long Bow Hunters. That was an great story arc, should be reasonable to do and should make for a solid foundation for the character.

Aquaman would still be a hard one to do I think, lots of water to deal with and damn near the whole thing would be CGI like Beowulf or Alice in wonderland.

Dark Knight Returns would be great but they wont do it.

The problem with Kingdom Come and Crisis on Infinite Earths is scope and numbers of super hero's to deal with but they would make great 2 part movies.
