While Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is still a few weeks away from arriving in theaters, we already have some early box office projections courtesy of Box Office Pro.
Scott Lang's franchise has never quite reached the same massive level of success as bigger-name heroes like Captain America and Spider-Man, but both Ant-Man and Ant-Man and The Wasp were box office hits. However, with this threequel set to kick off Phase 5 with an Avengers-level event story introducing Kang the Conqueror, excitement is high.
As a result, we're not shocked to learn Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is currently eyeing a North American debut of between $96 million and $131 million.
Long-range forecasts predict an eventual domestic haul of between $249 million to $347 million, with these figures making Ant-Man's next solo adventure the first 2023 release to have a potential opening weekend of over $100 million.
It's worth noting that even a weekend that sees it fall short of expectations would be a massive increase over Ant-Man ($57.2 million) and Ant-Man and The Wasp ($75.8 million), with that made all the more impressive by this movie being released post-pandemic. Both the social media and review embargoes lift early, so we think Marvel Studios likely has a hit on its hands here.
Promotion for Peyton Reed's next MCU adventure is quickly heating up, including with a fun PSA which sees Paul Rudd explain the importance of Ant-Man's hyphen (you can watch that below).
In Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Together, with Hope’s parents Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is set to be released in theaters on February 17.
