Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania's official MPAA rating has been revealed, and Peyton Reed's threequel is going to be the first R-rated Marvel Studios movie!
Not really: Ant-Man 3 has been rated PG-13 for "violence/action, and language."
The previous Ant-Man films were pretty light-hearted affairs for the most part, but Quantumania does appear to have upped the intensity levels considerably, due in large part to the introduction (well, reintroduction if you count Loki's He Who Remains) of Jonathan Majors' Kang, who will engage in what looks to be a pretty brutal battle with Scott Lang.
In related news, star Paul Rudd teased some unexpected cameos and easter eggs during a recent interview with Fandango.
“For people that are aware, I think… we have some good ones in there. Some really good ones.”
Audiences have come to expect a few surprises from MCU movies at this stage, although not every release indulges the fans in this way. It may also be worth noting that Rudd does tend to joke around about these type of things, so best not get your hopes up for the debut of The Fantastic Four or something!
Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible.
Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania also stars Jonathan Majors as Kang, David Dastmalchian as Veb, Katy O'Brian as Jentorra, William Jackson Harper as Quaz and Bill Murray as Lord Krylar.
The sci-fi adventure opens in theaters on Feb. 17, 2023.
