BOX OFFICE: AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Looks Set To Break Records Once Again This May
This probably shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, but box office analysts are predicting that Avengers: Age of Ultron will beat the opening weekend of the first movie come May 1st. Just how much is it set to earn and what could that mean for its final cume? Hit the jump for details...
It still feels a little too early for Avengers: Age of Ultron opening weekend estimations, but Bloomberg has a story up in which they report that researchers at BoxOffice.com believe that the sequel will debut with around $217 million during its opening weekend in North America. As of right now, The Avengers holds the record for the highest ever opening weekend with $207 million, so Avengers: Age of Ultron will obviously beat its own record as a result! There's obviously every chance that the sequel will open with more (which seems likely) or slightly less, but the site adds that "the number and intensity of positive posts have been the strongest Boxoffice.com researchers have seen for any movie since they started monitoring the site."
Another analyst isn't quite so sure that Avengers: Age of Ultron will be as profitable for Disney because of the increased budget and talent costs, but that doesn't mean it won't still beat the first movie at the box office. Whether the sequel ends up topping The Avengers' haul of $1.5 billion remains to be seen, as does its chances of topping Avatar as the highest grossing movie of all-time.
