AVENGERS: ENDGAME Isn't Actually Marvel Studios' Final Phase 3 Movie

Despite the fact that Avengers: Endgame has been billed as the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it, it seems as if things will wrap up a little later than originally expected.

While we've all been under the assumption that Spider-Man: Far From Home is going to kick off Phase 4, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has now confirmed that the movie is actually going to serve as an epilogue of sorts to Phase 3!

"It’s the end of the third phase," he confirmed when asked about Far From Home. "You're the first person I told that to." It sounds like the sequel will actually deal will the fallout from Avengers: Endgame rather than launching a new wave of stories (that will happen in 2020 now).

Oscorp



This is both one of the most logical choices while also extremely unlikely! Sony's five Spider-Man movies put a lot of the focus on the Osborn family with The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, in particular, once again taking us down a familiar route by focusing on Harry's relationship with his father (albeit in a very weird way which would have ultimately involved Norman's decapitated head). 

It would be great seeing what Marvel Studios could do with these two and even more exciting to see a comic book faithful Green Goblin squaring off with Tom Holland's wall-crawler.

I just can't help but wonder if Kevin Feige and company will really want to revisit the Osborns given how much we've seen of them but there's no denying that making Norman a big bad of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be pretty damn incredible, especially if he ultimately leads the Dark Avengers. With that in mind, the villain buying up some prime real estate in the Big Apple makes sense.
 

The Fantastic Four



Kevin Feige can't have known that Marvel Studios would regain the rights to the Fantastic Four way back when Spider-Man: Homecoming was being written but regardless of what was initially planned for Avengers Tower, those ideas could have easily been ditched to make room for Marvel's First Family's upcoming arrival thanks to the Disney/Fox merger.

It's hard to imagine a building more perfect than this one for the iconic team of superheroes to call home and the fact it used to belong Tony Stark could play into this origin story in some fun ways.

I don't think we'll necessarily get a reference to Reed Richards and company in Far From Home but with the merger set to be complete by March, Marvel could easily shoot something for a post-credits scene even if it's as simple as a plaque going up outside which says "Baxter Building."
 

Damage Control



This isn't a particularly exciting suggestion but it is one that makes sense based on Damage Control's role in Homecoming. It could be that Marvel Studios is planning on having them make more appearances in the MCU moving forward and a base of operations like this would be suitable for the organisation, especially as Tony could have sold it to them for a fraction of what the building is worth.

I hope it's not as simple as this, especially now that Damage Control sitcom is no longer happening. However, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see more of Damage Control in this sequel and the tech they've salvaged could easily be the source of Mysterio's powers, just like Vulture before him. 
 

Octavius Industries



While Marvel Studios is currently utilising villains we haven't seen on the big screen before, it's now been fifteen years since Doctor Octopus graced the big screen and there's a lot more that could be done with him beyond what we saw in Spider-Man 2. 

Octavius Industries was obviously introduced in the Spider-Man video game and making him a successful billionaire who ultimately loses the plot when his greatest invention turns him into a monster could be a fresh and exciting new take on the villain.

I'm not a fan of the Superior Spider-Man story arc but that's something which also has potential on screen and there's no denying that it would be fun seeing Tom Holland play a more extreme version of the wall-crawler (even if it's just for part of a movie).
 

No One That Matters



This is a rather depressing possibility but it's feasible that Avengers Tower is going to become just another New York skyscraper as Marvel Studios either permanently relocates Earth's Mightiest Heroes to the New Avengers Facility or the West Coast. This would be a shame but we can't discount the possibility that this moment in the trailer may not actually mean as much as we're all expecting!

S.H.I.E.L.D.



Nick Fury and Maria Hill are active in Far From Home so it's no wonder that many fans are convinced S.H.I.E.L.D. will return in Phase 4. After all, it's feasible a character like Steve Rogers or Tony Stark could take on a new role in the MCU as the organisation's Director and Avengers Tower would be a good base of operations for them moving forward, especially after the Triskelion was destroyed.

Unfortunately, this wouldn't quite line up with what happened in Homecoming unless Fury has a big stash of money hidden away!
 

It Gets Destroyed In Avengers: Endgame



During the World War Hulk storyline, a battle between the Hulkbuster and the Jade Giant resulted in Stark Tower being destroyed. 

So, who's to say the same thing won't happen in Avengers: Endgame, especially when it's hard to figure out why else the building would be undergoing what appears to be fairly significant building work Sure, it's been said that Far From Home picks up minutes after the events of the superhero ensemble but something tells me we'll be jumping a little further ahead in time than that. 

Then again, now it's been sold, there's really no reason why the former Avengers Tower would end up being taken down by Thanos!

This is Spider-Man's stealth suit and while set photos appeared to show the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo on it, that's nowhere to be seen here (presumably to avoid revealing too much this early on).

Meet Hydro-Man? Well, maybe. While this monster bears a resemblance to that comic book villain, this is more than likely just an Elemental and an illusion which has been created by Mysterio.

Nick Fury and Maria Hill face off against a villain who may or may not be the Sandman and it's fair to say that they're going to have their hands full when they attempt to stop this fearsome creature.

The new red and black suit looks truly spectacular in action and it will be interesting seeing how the sequel explains the change. It's great to see Peter make use of those web wings of his as well.

Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio is one of Spider-Man: Far From Home's biggest, well, mysteries. He certainly seems to be acting like a hero here and those eyes he conjures are a nod to the comics.

Yes, they actually gave Mysterio the fishbowl helmet! Marvel Studios deserves an awful lot of credit for that and while it's not clear if it's an actual helmet or energy field, it looks seriously cool.

Peter Parker is seemingly completely overpowered by Hydro-Man and it's then that Mysterio steps in to save the day, presumably creating an unlikely partnership between the two characters.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will be taking the wall-crawler to a lot of unexpected locations and it's going to be a lot of fun seeing him venture outside of New York City just like in the last movie.

Ant-Man was teased in a similar sense as the final Phase 2 film.

It's solely a marketting tactic used to imply you need to see Far From Home to end 'phase 3' - even if Far From Home will be a seperate story (like Ant-Man) or set-up Phase 4 instead. This sort of marketting is likely at this stage because people view Endgame as the finale and many are not emotionally invested in following the MCU with as much interest afterwards - people have grown up watching these and after 10/11 years they are now considering moving on from them.

It's likely how they will market Far From Home as some continuation of the fallout of Endgame - when in reality it will just be Peter potentially dealing with the death of one of the Avengers while he has an entirely seperate storyline. It's not the finale of Phase 3 as much as the start of Phase 4 with the world potentially dealing with the loss of a core Avenger for the first time (Quicksilver does not count)

@Scarilian - they basically treated ant man as an epilogue like an extended post credits scene so am assuming it’d be the same with spider man
