"Mr. Stark, I don't feel so good."
We suffered a lot of losses at the end of
Avengers: Infinity War, but for many Marvel fans, it was the emotional goodbye between Peter Parker and Tony Stark that hit the hardest. The trembling of Parker's face as he turns to dust thanks to the Thanos snap was a shot right in the feels, and even to this day - now less than a month from
Avengers: Endgame - it still stings.
We don't know for sure if Peter Parker, or any of the other snap victims, will return in
Avengers: Endgame; but in a press conference for the upcoming blockbuster, Robert Downey Jr. was asked what it was like to film such an emotional scene. Surprisingly, he admitted it felt like just another day on set.
"It was crazy to shoot it, but it was just another day. And then we were at lunch, cause it's a movie," said the Iron Man actor.
He continued to explain that it wasn't until he watched the movie with a young kid and saw his reaction that he realized the impact the scene had, and he hopes that
Endgame will elicit these same emotional responses from fans.
"I happened to see it with this amazing kid who couldn't go to a theater So I saw it with him and his reaction really effed me up," Downey admitted.
"So I think what a lot of us are looking forward to is like Kevin [Feige] always says, it's that surprise and delight experience with [Avengers] Endgame. It's one of those things where you go, 'Wow, I think we just made a pretty serious choice.'"
"But I think audiences like that. I think audiences are so smart and now so... they require to not be fed the same drivel as even twenty minutes ago. We need novelty and I think what the Russos and Kevin have been able to do," he concluded.
Seeing Peter Parker turn to dust on screen was undoubtedly heartwrenching as a fan, but it'll likely be nothing compared to what we're about to experience with
Avengers: Endgame. Speaking of the upcoming movie, fellow actor Chris Evans revealed at the same event that
the movie will mark the completion of Captain America's arc.
The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios' grand conclusion to twenty-two films, "Avengers: Endgame."
