BOX OFFICE: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR's Worldwide Open Could Be Upwards Of $500 Million
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters tomorrow and the latest figures are now here and it looks like the Marvel Studios movie will be breaking records both domestically and overseas. Read on for details!
Deadline reports that tracking for Avengers: Infinity War currently has Marvel Studios' nineteenth movie opening somewhere between $216 million - $235 million this weekend. Pretty much anywhere on the higher side of that range would result in it topping Star Wars: The Last Jedi's $220 million to score the second-highest domestic opening of all-time. However, it could go even higher than that!
The trade points out that there are those who think it could power its way to $275 million, a figure which would crush Star Wars: The Force Awakens' record haul of $247.9 million. Overseas, it looks like the movie will make anywhere between $256 million - $263 million with $275 million once again a possible target. That means a worldwide debut of $472 million - $498 million is almost guaranteed.
However, it could ultimately earn more than $500 million, an incredible start when you consider the fact that it doesn't open in China this weekend as well. As of right now, Avengers: Infinity War is said to be showing some of the best domestic tracking scores ever with unaided awareness at 59%, first choice at 48%, and definite interest at 72%. Expect those to rise as word of mouth quickly starts spreading.
