Marvel Studios revealed its ambitious Phase 5 and 6 plans during this year's San Diego Comic-Con, confirming that the latter will culminate with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Fantastic Four is now also on the horizon, though there was no mention of the X-Men or that long-rumoured Young Avengers project.
Beginning with the introduction of Cassie Lang in 2015's Ant-Man, it feels like the MCU has been setting the stage for a team of Young Avengers to assemble for some time now. Even recently, we've met heroes like Eli Bradley, Kate Bishop, and America Chavez, but Kevin Feige was giving very little away when asked what's happening with that team at Comic-Con.
"We’ve got...we’re sort of reminding people of all the amazing characters that we have introduced in Phase Four," he teases in the video below, "and sort of where those characters go and how they form their own cliques."
You can read into these comments any number of ways, but we'd put money on there being plans for the Young Avengers. Thunderbolts is another team-up project on the horizon, meaning the MCU could have any number of teams assembled by the time Kang the Conqueror strikes.
In the same interview, Feige was asked what the future could hold in store for Harry Styles' Eros following his introduction in Eternals. "The adventures of Eros and Pip is something that is very exciting for us," the executive noted, suggesting there are plans in place for both characters.
With the MCU expanding into cosmic, supernatural, and street-level stories, we'll have to be patient before learning what comes next for all these characters. Unsurprisingly, Feige does appear to have a plan, and seeing how that culminates in those two Avengers movies a few years from now promises to be nothing short of an unmissable ride for Marvel fans.
