BATGIRL Set Photos Give Us Our Best Look Yet At Michael Keaton's New Bat-Suit

We recently got a distant glimpse of what appeared to be either Michael Keaton or a stand-in suited-up as Batman on the set of the HBO Max Batgirl movie and thanks to some new photos, we have a much better look at the original big-screen Dark Knight's new outfit.

We're still not sure if this is actually Keaton or his body double, but the snaps do provide our best look yet at this updated costume. It's not a million miles away from the suit the actor wore in Tim Burton's 1989 movie, but there are a few key differences. It doesn't look quite as rubbery, for one!

Based on what we've seen from the sequence being shot here, this is most likely a flashback to Jim Gordon's (J.K. Simmons) first encounter with this incarnation of the Caped Crusader.

Batgirl will star Leslie Grace as the titular hero, along with Brendan Fraser, Jacob Scipio and Ivory Aquino.

Loki composer Natalie Holt recently announced that she's signed on to work on the movie's score, while Christina Hodson, who wrote Bumblebee and also worked on Birds of Prey and The Flash, penned the most recent draft of the script.

The HBO Max movie is being directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. No release date has been announced.

Let's hope we see his neck move though. Its hard re-watching the old ones knowing how much the movement was restricted.

@TheHumanSpider2 - no it’s his stunt double

I don’t think I’ll ever get over how bizarre this decision is. Bringing him back for some multiverse shenanigans is fine for a once off, but actually bringing him back for multiple projects is just insane.

@Twenty23Three - yeah I’m definitely with you on that one. I love Keaton & I’m excited we get to see Batman ‘89 again but it was 19 freaking 89 for gods sake. I would rather the dceu Batman on duty not be a geriatric version. Wish they brought back Afflect or shoehorned Pattinson in to be the resident Batman. Cool having Keaton for nostalgia in a one off but no need to have him be the guy going forward. I would’ve even preferred a new one as ridiculous as that might sound, just need Batman to be front and center amongst the dceu looking less old.

This better not be some lame ass passing the torch movie that will completely ruin Batman 89.

@campblood - unless it goes back in time and erases it from all our memories, nothing can ruin it for you lol

@campblood - Sadly, I think that's exactly what it's going to be.

@Dredd97 - it can soil the original film in many minds. Example ghostbusters 2016. It doesn’t completely ruin it but there is some poison in that well

Michael Keaton is 4 years older than JK Simmons. How’s that make sense?

@Tpo81 - I dunno, but I think Gordon can throwdown with Batman...

That costume looks like crap. Look at his stomach like it’s CW leather

It’s a shame they toned down the yellow in his suit by making the utility belt black. Always loved the look of it in the 89,92 movies

Degrading materials/fabrics used on the 89 suit aside. Apart from the Cowl, that new suit does not look as good as the 89 or returns suit. It looks rubbish imo.

Is it me, or does it look more like the Kilmer suit with the Keaton logo? Not a fan of the shiny plastic look 🤨

I still want to see more villains from Tim Burton's Bat-Universe. Maybe a sinister Ventriloquist and Batman destroying Scarface.

I think a flashback would be perfect to introduce a secondary villain.
