New BATGIRL Set Photos Give Us A Much Better Look At The Villainous Firefly In Full Costume

We caught a glimpse of Firefly in-costume on the set of HBO Max's Batgirl movie last night, but these latest photos give us a much better look at the pyromaniacal villain's supervillain outfit.

As production continues on the upcoming Batgirl feature in Scotland, more photos from the set have been shared online by the ever reliable Batgirl Film News. We got a first glimpse of Firefly (Brendan Fraser) suited-up for action last night, and these latest snaps give us a much better look at the villain in full costume.

The suit appears to be most directly inspired by Firefly's look in the Arkham Asylum video games, but it's obviously more grounded. We can't imagine this version on the character taking to the skies to do battle with Gotham's (other) Caped Crusader, but there does seem to be some comic book influence in the costume's design.

Check out the photos at the link below.

Batgirl will star Leslie Grace as the titular hero, along with Jacob Scipio and Ivory Aquino. J.K. Simmons is also set to reprise the role of Jim Gordon, and we will see the return of Michael Keaton's Batman.

Loki composer Natalie Holt recently announced that she's signed on to work on the movie's score, while Christina Hodson, who wrote Bumblebee and also worked on Birds of Prey and The Flash, penned the most recent draft of the script.

The HBO Max movie is being directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. No release date has been announced, but Batgirl is expected to debut later this year.

@Fares - so...it's gonna suck until the one that's basically an episode of condiment king?

@Origame - Nah man. Killer Moth. The rival bug-based Batman villain.

@Fares - yeah you're right. Don't know why I couldn't think of killer moth. Guess I'm just desperate to see condiment king in live action since peacemaker came out.

Digging the steampunk influence. Definitely interested in this one, probably the only promising DC film coming the rest of the year imo now that Batman's out.

You'd have to try to [frick] up Firefly's look. They did great.

Interesting look for sure, kind of reminds of classic Ratcatcher more than Firefly, but that's not a criticism.

Cautiously looking forward to this one, much more than Flash, Aquaman, etc

This reminds me of the sad reality that we've yet to have a steampunk franchise that can break into pop culture.
Spidey91
Spidey91 - 3/2/2022, 8:00 PM
@Vanillain - that's because steampunk is a very, veeeeeery niche thing. Of course we have properties with some steampunk elements but that's about it.
Vanillain
Vanillain - 3/2/2022, 9:48 PM
@Spidey91 - I think it just takes one really good film to capture audiences into the world. High fantasy wasn't really a consistent bankable genre until the turn of the millennium with LOTR and even HP.

@Vanillain - its not full on steampunk, but I think Arcane is a show that did. Its not a main pop culture thing yet, but it really only has had one season

After The Batman, this movie is my most anticipated DC project!

This looks so good and can't wait to see Fraser in action.
