Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu has taken to twitter to chime in on the recent axing of DC's Batgirl film, and even remarks on a recent cancellation of his own!

Simu Liu has shown himself to be a quick wit over the years with his social media posts, and the recent shelving of the Leslie Grace led Batgirl film has provided the star with another chance to hit his followers with a zinger.

Taking to Twitter, Liu jests "I'm sorry to inform you guys that Disney has decided to scrap the Shang-Chi Holiday Special due to quality control concerns. I had already filmed the entire thing. I even designed an all-gingerbread Ta Lo. RIP Shang Chi and the Legend of the TEEEN GOLDEN RIIIIINGS"

The MCU star's tweet is just one in a tidalwave of social media discussion on the topic of Batgirl's abrupt cancellation. Directors Adil El Arbi and Billal Fallah revealed that aside from messages of support from Marvel boss Kevin Feige, they've also heard from fellow directors Edgar Wright and James Gunn.

The debate rages on about if shelving the project was the right call, and speculation relating to the future of other DC projects is at a fever pitch as fans and filmmakers alike wonder what will be done with the controversial Flash movie, the currently filming Blue Beetle, and the myriad other projects that have been announced but are not yet in production.

I don't know, seems kind of mean spirited. They're probably plenty of people reeling from this and he's making jokes about a non-existent property getting canceled? That's just bad taste if you ask me.

Dick move. I hope that every time that he misses out on a role or has any kind of career setback that people are quick to jump online and make fun at his expense

Well, the best I can wish for Simu Liu is not to find himself on the opposite side of his own joke.

All my support for the Batgirl team. Whether you liked the direction the movie was taking or not, the way they were treated by the studio is beyond words. And it's also very dangerous for the industry as a whole because the new CEO doesn't seem to care about making "good" movies or movies meant to win awards anymore (seeing the crap he said about the failure of the last Clint Eastwood movie). The only movies worth producing for him are those meant to be huge commercial successes, mainly blockbusters with a ton of action.

I'm sure Simu meant well, taking a jab at the corporate side rather than the creatvies behind and in front of the cameras, but it does come off as "not cool" at first glance.

Anyway, I'm sure that everyone and their mother have something to say about it, but few have something of relevance to add. Don't take it the wrong way Waddles, but Simu is not one of those few I think.

@Fares - At best, it's still highly insensitive towards the victims of bad corporate management.

I thought it was funny. Not everything has to be serious and gloomy. After all, he's from Marvel, not DC.
