The feature adapts the landmark four-issue story written by Miller and drawn by David Mazzucchelli that first appeared in 1987 on the heels of Miller's seminal work, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. Those tomes, along with The Watchmen, helped elevate the comics medium, changing the public's perception of the art form and influencing Hollywood writers and artists to this day.

In Year One, a young Bruce Wayne is first starting out as a costumed vigilante. He creates an early bond with Lieutenant James Gordon, whose importance in the tale makes it as much as Gordon's story as Wayne's.

We've already seen a couple images from the next DC Animated film Batman: Year One and now we have our first look at the DVD cover art for the movie. Unfortunately it's in relatively low-res for now but as soon as we have it in high-res we'll be sure to update you guys.

Batman: Year One stars the voice talents of Ben McKenzie, Eliza Dushku, Bryan Cranston, & Katee Sackhoff.

@marvel72

Nobody buys them I really hope Green Lantern is a success because if it is then maybe WB/DCE will take chances on other characters.

@marvel72

i agree its really getting boring WB/DC needs to stop just doing Batman and Superman all the damn time. i would like a full animated movie of Green Arrow, The Flash and other lesser known characters.

@AlReg

the reason no one buys them is because WB/DC has not pushed them to the general public. they always push Superman and Batman to the general public they could do the same with other DC characters.

What is really special about this cover is that it doesnt shy away from the artwork featured in the movie itself unlike previous works that featured over-detailed artwork for their covers to which the animation couldnt live up to.

@jazzman- I wasn't either. First Flight and Wonder Woman.

looks like to be another cool batman movie but totally agree with all of you,they need to explore other characters as well in these animated movies.(flash,aquaman,green arrow etc)

the only things I like of DC is their animated movies games (again batman AA is the only good one)and films (films of course include very few including batman films,300,Constantine n hopefully green lantern which I'm very excited for now but if the final product is good etc)I hate the comics because they have destroyed batman with the batman inc concept and now batman is like a joke with so many batmen running here and there,utter ridiculous.batman year one now those were the days,Bruce Wayne THE BATMAN,I wish DC comics were more like marvel focusing only on the lead characters like tony stark,peter Parker etc.at least MARVEL don't come up with dumb ideas like having 2 iron mans or spider-men

what to do,at least I'm saving money :) anyway excited for this :)

jazzman - 5/29/2011, 10:18 AM
@RoscoeFolgers

because they did not sell does it mean we need to only stick with Batman and Superman over and over and over again.

@batmanbruce

Marvel to have dumb ideas always. also they have 2 spider-man dont u remember scarlet spider-man lol

I'll watch and enjoy...but i gotta ask...what is the point in doing an animated year one when Batman Begins was losely based on it...

@ SUPERSOMETHING616

It was very loosley based on Year One, there was still a lot of stuff that was different, plus the art was amazing.

My favorite scene in the book is when Gordon suspects Bruce Wayne is The Batman and pays him a visit at Wayne Manor
