According to an Israeli site Xnet, via Badass Digest, relatively unknown actor Alon Abutbul has been cast in Christopher Nolan's much-awaited film The Dark Knight Rises. While Google's translator had a part in understanding the site's report, which often spreads inaccurate info, they seem to suggest the actor will "embody the image of a particularly evil mad scientist." The site's full translation reads:

Blog of a song by Lilia, the partner of Abutbul, Israeli actor was cast to play the new film series "Batman." Or as she wrote it: "It was eleven thirty at night. After receiving a questionnaire said the new Batman role."

Another one who decided to report the role of director Doron was Abutbul Sabri ("connected") piped up his Twitter account: "Oh, I forgot to update questionnaire Abutbul new Batman was cast as the bad one. Honor Salonica" honor indeed.

Sources close to the player confirmed the reports officially told that although the extent of the role is still unknown, Abutbul will embody the image of a particularly evil mad scientist,

Alon Abutbul is mostly known for his role alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Body Of Lies, and plays evil scientist 'Dr. Armand Silva' in the Fringe TV series. Regarding his role in TDKR, Badass Digest seems to think this "Mad Scientist" could be 'Hugo Strange', whose been recently rumored to appear, although yet to be confirmed. What do you think?

The Dark Knight Rises' story details are underwraps. Although, the films stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Marion Cotillard, Josh Pence, Nestor Carbonell & Michael Caine, the film releases 20 July, 2012!

So far DCMarvelFreshman- None of your rumors for MOS were ever right- that source of yours- "Mr. Burbank" total B.S

I am taking this crap with a grain of salt. They keep mentioning hugo strange over and over and over again, constantly rumoring him then debunking him again.

Sick of it all.

@LP4 awkward

Anyways cool news, i wonder who it could be....looking through the batman villains list on wiki i came across 2 potential characters under the 'mad scientist' description:

Simon Hurt (check him out on wiki) or Doctor Death aka Dr. Karl Hellfern (check him out also). One of them could be our guy!

Dr. Victor Fries was rumored to make an appearance a while back wasn't he? Not of the villainous Mr. Freeze, but as his pre-frozen alter-ego

Am I the only one who sees a resemblance?

He looks more like Mr. Freeze than Hugo Strange. When I think of a scientist, I think of Dr. Victor Fries, Dr. Crane, and Edward Nigma. It could very well be Hugo Strange (even if he looks nothing alike). Time will tell.

I have a STRONG STRONG inclination that he is going to play Doctor Death, also. Gary Oldman even said that the villain in the movie is one from the "on of the earlier" issues of Batman. this guy mad a debut in 1939 (the year that Batman was created). Also his history with being a Biological Arms dealer/ Mad scientist, it would fit in more with the bane storyline as he might the Scientist/Doctor to administer Bane with an intravenous version of the Lazarus Pit, oppose to Dr. Strange who is just a psychiatrist.

I don't know that actor, but not as well known will imagine that only a brief appearance of a "mad scientist" probably Victor Fries, because I do not interpret a character as charismatic as Hugo Strange, then I think, would give the opportunity to much more renowned actor

Bye

Hopefully this is untrue and we get Robin Williams back with Christopher Nolan to portray Hugo Strange.

I don't know about you, but I'm in love with his nose. A large prominent nose says a lot about a persons character, intelligence, sense of humor, love making ability, manhood (speaking in terms of size, in case you didn't get that), as well as their acting talents, just to name a few. If I had to guess, I'd say he's a natural penquin, big bird, or even flamingo if that character exists.

Now, if someone can only get him to paint that thing red....

HE WILL NOT BE HUGO STRANGE.
MY BET IS THAT HE WILL PLAY DR. DARRK

Doctor Ebeneezer Daark

Character Description:
Ebeneezer Darrk, aka Doctor Darrk, was the first known individual assigned to head the League of Assassins by Ra's al Ghul. Darrk himself was seconded by The Sensei, a martial arts master from Hong Kong. Although many of the League's leaders over the years have been accomplished martial artists, Darrk himself did not depend on physical prowess, and as an assassin he instead relied upon careful planning and manipulation, ambushes and death traps, as well as a variety of cleverly concealed weapons and poisons. Although the League apparently had an inner circle of elite fighters as well as a large number of warriors trained in the martial arts, the League during Darrk's tenure as leader reflected his personal methodology. Following a "falling out" with Ra's (the exact details of which were never made clear) Darrk kidnapped Ra's daughter, Talia Al Ghul. Batman became involved in this matter while attempting to bring the League to justice for a number of recent killings. Although he had connected the League to several assassinations over the years, all previous attempts to investigate had met dead-ends. Batman rescued Talia (the first time the two would meet, laying the foundation for all their future interaction) and Darrk died while trying to kill them.
