RUMOR: Zack Snyder Considering WATCHMEN Star Jeffrey Dean Morgan For BATMAN

A new report claims that Watchmen and Supernatural actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan is meeting with Zack Snyder about possibly reteaming with the director for the role of 'Batman' in 2015's Man of Steel sequel which will pit the Caped Crusader against Superman. Check it out!

The Hollywood Reporter's short list of actors up for the role of Batman included Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Richard Aritage, and while Latino-Review would later throw Gerard Butler's name into the mix, another possible candidate has now emerged. According to Think McFly Think, Watchmen's Matthew Goode isn't the only star from that film to be in contention for the role of the Caped Crusader as Jeffrey Dean Morgan - who played 'The Comedian' in that movie - is said to be meeting with director Zack Snyder about the role. At 47 years of age, he certainly fulfills the older Bruce Wayne that the studio is looking for. However, despite taking on plenty of varied and meaty roles in the past, he arguably lacks the big name presence of some of the other rumoured candidates. However, so did Henry Cavill, and that certainly didn't stop Man of Steel from being a success! What do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!

if they really are looking for an older Batman this guy could do it for sure. I can totally see him being a more mature darker Batman looking down at this "kid" who destroyed a city. Maybe the cancelling of his show freed him up. Ilike it still wouldve liked a younger one. possibly to set up a Batman Beyond later on? haha now thats funny.

Please...please...don't let this be more than a rumor.

The new batman should young fresh and is new blood. Not old rugged and VERY experienced.

If they wanted that they should've connected TDKR with Man of Steel.

I'm very cautious with this movie.

It would be awesome...but there's still something that doesn't say he'd be a good choice for Batman.

If Snyder is going with an older Bats, I'd take him over Brolin any day. Still would prefer Bale, but I know that ain't happening.

I don't understand why he "has" to be young. I actually really like the idea of Batman being older, wiser, and rugged. It gives him a reason to dislike Superman, because he's been around for a lot longer, doing things a lot safer.

Honestly, I'm sure this movie will get screwy like Superman did. So, really I guess I shouldn't have an opinion since I didn't really care for Man of Steel. Before you start, no I'm not a Marvel groupie, I just haven't really enjoyed the direction Warner Bros took with the DC titles. Green Lantern had my hopes high, shot them way down, I don't really like Christian Bale as Bats, (the best parts about TDK trilogy to me were definitely Ledger and Oldman) and I thought Man of Steel felt like a let down. I don't really know how you can approach Superman in film, but I wasn't too keen on how they have been doing it.

I do think for some reason, he could play a good Hal Jordan.

At this point I would rather see more Watchmen than Man Of Steel or "Old Man Brucie". Old Man Logan was cool though.

Richard Armitage is the way to go, he definitely fits the bill with his looks, he is 6’2″, has a deep, rich voice, and has the acting ability to play anything he wants. As seen in the Hobbit he can act very very grumpy. Richard Armitage’s popularity with fans is such that his followers call themselves the “Armitage Army” and are one of the most loyal groups of followers in the industry.

I would love to see an older Bruce and I think Josh Brolin or Jeffery Dean Morgan would be great picks. It would be another fresh take on the character rather than rinsing and recycling the same thing. If they end up going with some one younger though than Gosling would be an interesting choice, but I think Richard Aritage is a slightly better fit.
