Warner Bros. India has shared a new theatrical one sheet for The Batman, and while previous posters have focused on the individual characters, this one spotlights Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight along with his feline foe(?) Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz), up-and-coming Gotham crime boss Oswald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin (Colin Farrell), and twisted serial killer The Riddler (Paul Dano).
The poster also shows a question mark-like target over Bruce Wayne, and a recent TV spot confirmed that the Riddler won't just be coming after Batman, but the Gotham City vigilante's civilian alter ego.
During a recent interview with Esquire, director Matt Reeves said he felt this story justified yet another Batman reboot, while also commenting on the various spinoffs (and potential sequels) that are in development. “I’m very proud of it. I felt it was the best version of the story that we could possibly do to justify having another Batman,” said the filmmaker. “You always have to have a reason, and from the beginning that was the mission for me.”
“It will obviously have a lot to do with how people receive this film,” he added “But a lot of things are in the works.”
"Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens."
“When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.”
We recently learned that The Batman will be rated PG-13 for “strong violence, disturbing content, drug content, strong language, and some suggestive material.” The movie is set to hit theaters on March 4.
