Tim Burton Wanted 'Chucky' Voice Actor Brad Dourif For Joker In BATMAN
During a panel for the 25th anniversary of horror film "Chucky" at New York Comic Con, the voice actor of the famed doll Brad Dourif revealed Tim Burton once asked him to play the Joker in his 1989 Batman movie.
It appears that director Tim Burton originally considered another actor for the part of The Joker in his 1989 Batman movie. During a panel for the 25th anniversary of horror film "Chucky" at New York Comic Con, the voice of the iconic doll 'Brad Dourif' was Burton's original choice for the Joker. The actor who did get the part, Jack Nicholson, was even nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film. "Tim Burton saw me on a plane and wanted to cast me and they [the studio] said no," said Dourif during the panel. When another cast member on stage mentioned it was Nicholson who ended up with the part, Dourif joked, "He takes all my roles." That wasn't the only time Dourif was pegged to play a member of Batman's Rogue's Gallery. When Burton was originally attached to 1995's "Batman Forever," Dourif was considered to play the Scarecrow.
