DC Movies To Be Announced This Month; WB Explains Initial BATMAN V SUPERMAN/ CAP 3 Battle

Teasing that Justice League is coming sooner than we think, Warner bros' president has commented on Batman v Superman's new date and its previous which would have taken on Captain America 3.

Entertainment Weekly recently ran a piece this morning on the initial 2016 superhero movie showdown that "everybody has won," thanks to Warner Bros. updating its movie schedule earlier this week. Marvel/Disney didn't reveal Captain America 3 as the title for its May 6, 2016 movie until after The Winter Soldier became a Spring hit at the box office, however, they did claim the date about a year before Warner Bros. had scheduled Zack Snyder's highly-anticipated Man of Steel follow-up, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, for release on that same date.
While things have since changed, as aforementioned, many still wonder what made Warner initiate the potential showdown in the first place. “In terms of going back and reviewing the situation, it looked to us—and maybe our reconnaissance wasn’t great—that they were not going to have a movie [ready] on that date,” explains Dan Fellman, the president of domestic distribution at Warner. “Just that they held onto it and they might not be able to deliver. But they took another position.”

Of course, Warner Bros. announced Wednesday that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will, instead, arrive on March 25, 2016. “The reality now is there really isn’t a bad week to open a movie,” says Fellman. “If you look at the summer box office this year, you can see that there were so many movies, one after the other. You can start with Spider-Man, two weeks later Godzilla, and then Maleficent, and then Edge of Tomorrow, and then Jump Street and Transformers. And the one thing they all had in common, not one of them did over $250 million. We’ll be the first one up [in 2016], which is very important, and we’ll have six weeks before Captain America comes in.”

Along with the new date for Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros. also added nine other untitled DC Comics adaptations all the way up through 2020, and Dan Fellman teases that “some of those untitled DC movies should begin to be announced later this month,” but that's not all. The Warner president also said that the first Zack Snyder-directed Justice League movie might be closer than you think. When EW asked Fellman if they will release a quick sequel to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice instead of waiting the usual two to three years, he replied, “While it hasn’t been officially announced, I think it’s a pretty good bet.” It's already been reported that the 2016 movie is currently filming back-to-back with the Justice League movie which could be what Dan Fellman is insinuating. What do you think?

March or May, this movie is gonna make a ton of money.
So glad at least one studio put aside their pride and moved the date.

Really excited to hear the upcoming slate!
I'm hoping for WW solo movie, Aquaman solo and (I know it's a long shot but..) Teen Titans.
Could not care for Shazam, I'm sure he's a great character but he's too similar to Superman. I prefer some Diversity.

Smart move, WB. I'm glad they understand the nonstop chain of blockbusters coming out week after week.

A. Passed out drunk in a drainage ditch.
B. At in-patient rehab
C. In jail
D. Murdered by his girlfriend

My gut tells me B.

This wouldn't even have been a situation if WB didn't try to throw their weight around and force Marvel from the release date.

They must've been trying to prove a point but failed in doing so.

I'm with Cherrybomb, I want a WW solo movie. I still feel she should have had one before showing up in BvS, but we'll see how they handle her.

I'm ready for some announcements! Shazam is definitely gonna be the other 2016 movie, and then JL after that most likely. Other than that I'm hoping for Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and a Green Lantern reboot(because he deserves one).
